8 September 2020 | Chartiers Valley Intermediate School
Dear IS Families,

We hope you had a wonderful long Labor Day weekend!

Thank you to all of the families who stopped by the IS last week to pick up your child’s materials for CV Cyber. We know you were anxiously awaiting them and appreciate your patience as we organized and prepared for distribution. If you were not able to make it last week, please contact the Intermediate School office to schedule an alternate pick up or swing by Door 7 on Friday, September 11 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm.

We know there are many questions that can pop up as students and parents navigate the online learning environment. We are hoping the resources below will help!

IMPORTANT Attendance Procedures: Both Hybrid and CV Cyber students must submit attendance on remote learning days using Infinite Campus. Click here for instructions, or click here for a video tutorial. If a Hybrid or CV Cyber student is unable to complete school work on a remote learning day, the student will be marked absent. Hybrid students who are absent on in-person days may either choose to work remotely (if healthy enough to do so), or receive an excused/unexcused absence (documentation must be provided for absence to be excused).

If you need additional assistance or have further questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher or the school office. We are happy to help!
Sincerely,

Mrs. Julie Franczyk, Principal
Mr. Peter Schintz, Assistant Principal

Attendance
If your child is absent from school (online or in person), please email the IS Attendance Secretary, skowalo@cvsd.net If your child is a hybrid student and is too sick for school, but able to attend online, please email your child’s teachers (ELA and Math/Sci) AND skowalo@cvsd.net to let them know your child will be working from home that day.

Library News
If you found a CVIS library book at home, please send it in with your child to return or drop it off at the IS main office.  There are still over 400 library books from the 2019-2020 school year that have not been returned.  We have some great ideas for getting books in the hands of kids, but we need your help getting those books back in the library first!

Birthdays
We know how exciting birthdays are for children.  However, due to COVID-19 restrictions we are unable to allow students to distribute any items for birthdays or other occasions.
NHS Tutoring Program
The COVID-19 pandemic has presented an unprecedented start to the school year. Online/hybrid school can be very stressful for students and families. As an attempt to relieve some of this stress, the CV National Honor Society is organizing a tutoring service for students K-8 in the Chartiers Valley community. This service is free of charge and is managed by high school members of National Honor Society.  Zoom will be utilized for a one hour (maximum) session. Tutoring hours will be held Monday through Friday from 3-8 pm and on Sundays from 2-5 pm. If you are interested, please fill out the form below.
We will be in contact with you once a date, time, and tutor has been confirmed!
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Grayce Woodrum at gwoodrum01@gmail.com or Honora Armfield at honora.armfield2021@gmail.com
