Weekly Director Letter 10/15/2021
Dear Parents,
This week was filled with highs and lows. We learned yesterday that we were not the winners of the $25,000 playground contest. Although Friends of Kids For Kids Academy helped us to lead in the voting by a landslide, the top 10 vote-getters were evaluated. The winning program has no playground. We are blessed to have a wonderful one that needs renovation and repairs which we will find a way to make in the future. Thank you Kiwanis Club Kendall South Dade for the nomination. Congratulations to the Kiwanis Club of Stuart, Florida, this year's winner of the Legacy of Play Contest with Landscape Structures Inc.! 🎉 And thank you to everyone who participated. We did have many great things happen this week as well. Our kids in Rainbow, VPK, and K-2 had their first on-site field trip this week. It was a presentation by the actors from the Miami Children’s Museum. The title, NOT A BOX was a creative show to spark the kids' imagination. They had about 25 different size boxes that they transformed into other things. I heard from some parents that their kids went home and made things that “WERE NOT BOXES” out of boxes. If your child did this, please send me photos or videos of them and their creations.

We also received a COVID grant that provided our school with about 1200 home COVID rapid test kids. We have given some to staff and would like to give each family who wants them 3 to take home. They will be on tables Thursday and Friday of next week. They will be great to have at home if your or your child feels sick.

We are super excited to announce that our school has been featured by the Florida Department of Health in its monthly newsletter. They have found our Farm to Table Preschool Program and organic menu to be exemplary! What a huge honor. Here is a link to the newsletter.

We are in the process of getting our garden ready for planting and our growing season. Stay tuned! If you like gardening and would like to sign up to volunteer in the preparation or maintenance please send me an email or message in Brightwheel. We will also be accepting donations of certain plants or bags of potting mix as we plan our garden beds. We can’t wait to share photos of the kids planting and our garden growing once again.

Finally, a longtime family of Kids For Kids has returned to our school in a new way. After 3 of their kids attended Kids For Kids, they have opened their home to fosters, 2 children. The little boy, just over a year old is in Green Door and his sister is in Kindergarten. We would like to support their open hearts by requesting donations of diapers in all sizes 2 and up, wipes, and shoes for the little one year old boy. They are also looking for a small stroller. With 5 kids at home now, space is at a premium. The family is grateful for any help you wish to offer. I thank them for always being kind and opening their heart to two children who need them.

Don’t forget to read the flyers at the school about our Halloween Event!
I will be out Monday and Tuesday camping and will be back Wednesday afternoon. I will have limited access to emails and messages. Please see my administrative team for anything you need.

Have a fabulous weekend,
Beth Rosenthal Davis, Ed.S, NBCT
