*DATE CHANGES* ANP FALL/WINTER CONCERT

The music team is thrilled to announce our annual fall/winter concert of the year. Our students are already working hard on their repertoire, and they are excited! This year, the concert will be spread over seven weeks by grade level. The dates are below:

  • October 19, Kindergarten
  • October 26, Fourth Grade
  • November 2, First Grade
  • November 9, Third Grade
  • November 16, Second Grade
  • November 30, Fifth Grade
  • December 7, Sixth Grade

The concert will be held in the Archway MPR shortly after dismissal. The performing students will remain with their homeroom teachers and will be escorted down to the MPR as a class with their belongings. You are welcome to pick-up siblings at regular dismissal to attend your student(s) concert.

The Paradise Valley Baptist Church has graciously allowed us to utilize their parking lot for these events. If you are attending the concert, please park in their parking lot (off of Hearn) instead of the ANP parking lot to avoid lengthening the dismissal procedures. Performances will begin at 3:50 pm and doors to the MPR will open at 3:40 pm. Please line up along the glass window prior to admission.

Please inquire with your student’s music teacher if your student is absent for their performance, and or you have any questions about the performance.

TEACHER SPOTLIGHT

Ms. Alexander, 2B Lead Teacher
Hi. My name is Jaime Alexander. I am originally from Pennsylvania but moved to Arizona with my family when I was three. I call myself a native from Arizona because I do not remember anything from where I was born. I have an older brother. Growing up in Arizona my brother and I went to a summer camp through the City of Scottsdale. We both grew up in that camp until we were old enough to volunteer and then finally working for the City as counselors. I played a lot of sports growing up. In high school, I played volleyball, basketball and ran track. While in high school, I hurt my knee. After getting x-rays and an MRI, doctors told me that I torn a few ligaments in my knee. I had surgery and went through six months of intense physical therapy. While I was going through the process of physical therapy, everything was very intriguing to me and wanted to learn more about it. Though I loved working with kids and had always wanted to become a teacher, going through physical therapy I chose to study kinesiology at Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colorado. I graduated with a BS in Athletic Training.
After six years of working in physical therapy, I knew that it was not something I wanted to do the rest of my life. So I went back to school for education at ASU. I graduated with my masters in elementary education in December of 2012 and began teaching kindergarten in January 2013. I taught kindergarten for 4 years and this is my fifth year teaching second grade here at Great Hearts.
I got married in Temecula, CA in 2017. We have a daughter named Peyton Leah. She turned one over the summer. We also have a dog named Daphne. My favorite color is purple. My favorite place to go would be to relax on the beach.
