Happy spring to all my fellow IVAPM members!
As we push our way into the heart of the season, I can hear a collective sigh of relief, for better weather, for the bloom of flowers, for the end of snow, and for more time outdoors. My heart bursts with pride as I watch everyone at work in the veterinary community – continuing to provide care and service to all clients and patients, through any world catastrophe.
Here at IVAPM, we are excitedly preparing for upcoming events, and look forward to seeing you before too long. The glare of computer-screen meetings has lost some appeal, and I sure cannot wait to finally join my fellow pain management colleagues in person. It was great to see so many members join us for our Zoom Membership Meeting in February! We were so happy to share updates and plans with everyone and look forward to continuing these virtual meetings bi-annually. Some smart things have come out of the pandemic, and virtual meetings have certainly brought our world-wide membership closer and have allowed you to become more informed about your organization. Thank you to all who have volunteered to step up and join a committee or run for a board position. Our organization needs deep membership support to continue to serve our educational mission. Thank you for not just being members, but for being active members!
The new membership portal on our website has launched with resounding success! What a great place for members to share ideas, questions, events, and thoughts. It is even easier than ever to search for a pain-management colleague, and to stay in touch with each other. Big thanks go to our executive director, Wendy Dox, for working tirelessly to make these wonderful improvements to our website.
On behalf of the nominations committee, thank you to everyone who submitted nominations to the board for this election cycle. We are proud and excited about the enthusiastic response, and the general membership will be receiving a final slate for consideration in the next few weeks. Please be sure to vote. Your membership vote counts, and your IVAPM can only continue to grow with the hard work of the entire community!
As I speed through my second year as IVAPM president, I am so proud to see the great things IVAPM has accomplished. I look forward to supporting the 2022 board and continue to encourage you to add your voice to our vision. We are making a difference in veterinary pain management education.
Fondly,
Jennifer Johnson VMD, CVPP,
IVAPM President
