Dear CCA Parents & Guardians – CCA values your feedback and would like to hear from you. After Winter Break, you will have an opportunity to provide both positive and constructive feedback on teachers and the school environment via our annual survey (available starting January 4th). Exciting Mathletes News!
We are excited to inform you that our students did a phenomenal job in the annual Rich Morrow Challenge. RMC is a competition conducted by Challenge School and has all of the CCSD students in grade levels 3-5 participate.

An Interview with a Police Officer!
Ms. Urso's class did a Dream Big Friday with Officer Gray. The students had the opportunity to ask questions about being a police officer! What an awesome way to learn about jobs and dream big!

Eagle Unity Shirts on Fridays! |
We want to see your student in their Eagle Unity shirt from the PTO! We would love to feature them on Social Media each Friday to remind students to wear their shirts and keep us unified. CCA Soars because we are stronger together.

Pretend Computer Disasters in Technology Class!
This week in Technology with Mrs. Sandler, Mrs. Miller's class read a story about Arthur's computer disaster! They talked about things that have gone wrong with their computers while doing online learning. The kids then drew a picture to show a computer problem they have had before. What a fun and timely activity to do in technology!

Advice for Screen Time
Be sure your child is following their remote learning schedule. We have a number of breaks built in to daily schedule to help them. Make sure they take their breaks away from the screen. Sometimes children are staying online during break to socialize and that just increases their screen time. So have them walk away during breaks!
Here are some other options we can suggest:
- Blue light glasses
- Adjust screen brightness
- Allow the screen to be in high contrast mode
- Making sure your child is working in an area with adequate lighting
- Elevate computer screen to be more at eye-level (use books or boxes to prop underneath)

The CCA Library will be open Wednesday and Friday afternoons in December for you to come in to check out library books.

Virtual Youth Art Show
Enter your western lifestyle-themed artwork in the National Western Youth Art Contest! We have gone entirely virtual for the 2021 contest. The contest is free to enter and open to students in grades 1 through 12.
Simply take a picture of your submission to enter. The Reserve and Grand Champion artwork will be displayed
January 9 through January 24, 2021.
Entries will be accepted starting November 17 through December 18, 2020.

Monday and Wednesday meals will include 2 breakfast and 2 lunches. Friday will include breakfast and lunch for Friday – Sunday

Virtual Coding Class for 5th - 8th Grade Students
We are excited to announce a free, virtual computer coding class available to CCA middle school students in November. Steel City Codes is led by a CCA alumnus and current senior at Cherry Creek High School. These lessons are open to all CCA middle school student in grades 5 - 8 and will teach coding in both Java and Python. This class will meet on Mondays from 3:45-4:45. CCA families are encouraged to share photos for the 2020-2021 yearbook since students have been learning remotely. Please send your photos to Media@cherrycreekacademy.org and please include your student's full name and grade with the photos.
A few ideas for pictures include remote learners in their awesome virtual learning spaces, remote learners working hard school assignments, or standing next to an awesome project they have completed.

Are you looking to offer your volunteer hours where you have a particular interest or expertise?

Would you enjoy an open discussion with members of the Parent Board, Administration, and CCA Community about an issue that's important to you?
We'd love to have you join us at a CCA Committee Meeting! CCA Committee Meetings are the BEST way to participate in active discussions about the "big-picture" issues that are near-and-dear to your heart. In addition to Committee-level projects, the work done by CCA Committees refines and prepares those issues brought to the Board as formal Action Items. Parent volunteer hours are available for attending committee meetings, and for participating in committee work.
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate in Committee discussions!
