With this year’s “novel” virus, we are ALL taking a focused look at health. Covid-19 has taken center stage and raised some important questions. What shall you do — what exactly shall you do to take care of yourself?

The standard recommendations have almost entirely been an attempt to answer the question “How do you stay away from a virus?”

Perhaps a better question is “How do you keep your body healthy so that it is not a hospitable environment for the virus?” After all, if covid has shown us anything, it has shown us that only the weakest members of the population are the ones at risk - that more than 99% of those who test positive have no or very little symptoms. This is not a “novel” situation, not a new outcome, not a revelation. It has always been this way.

Your best protection is to stay healthy!
Your best protection is to stay healthy!
Your best protection is to stay healthy!
Your best protection is to stay healthy!
Your best protection is to stay healthy!
Your best protection is to stay healthy!

Here is how to increase your inner resilience and health for this year’s virus and every virus to come. (There are many, many reasons to keep yourself healthy … such as … to be the greatest, most alive expression of all the love and creativity that is you).

One single principle governs all of healthy living:
There is a natural design for health,
get back to that design for best health.

Diet  Eat whole fresh organic food. Avoid processed foods and chemicals.

Water and Air Stay hydrated and drink pure water (not tap water!!!) Air quality is also very important to your health - clean fresh unpolluted air. This brings up the question of masks. Whatever protection you believe they offer, masks increase your exposure to carbon dioxide (exhaled air) and decrease available oxygen causing hypoxia (low blood oxygen) which weakens your body including your immune system. Hopefully, for your health, you are able to spend most of your day without a mask.

Rest  Strengthen your body with good rest. All kinds of regeneration happen while you sleep.

Exercise Exercise is the great detoxifier! Movement increases the circulation of your blood and lymphatic systems. The often forgotten lymphatic system is an important part of your immune system.

Sunshine Only in the past 200 years has humankind lived predominantly indoors. We do not yet know the full impact of this lack of daily sunshine on our health. You need vitamin D, and no dietary source takes the place of sunshine.

Don't Stress  Tend to your thoughts and the emotions they create. Peace is a state of knowing, having a plan in line with reality, and faith that the best possible outcome will occur. When you are in a state of "not knowing", fear and anxiety are the companion emotions; and these emotions weaken your health as well as weaken your defenses against being manipulated. The solution to fear is a process of finding a calm space and finding your own answers... finding clarity.
