February 2022

Our Upcoming Move!

Within the next month, both the ReStore and administrative offices will be temporarily closing their doors to pack up and move to a new location to better serve the Hanover and King William communities. The ReStore will be larger to accommodate more inventory - including a beautiful space designated just for home goods.

At this time, the ReStore plans to close February 14 -28 and will reopen March 1. These plans are subject to change, as we also deal with supply delays so stay tuned for specific dates for our move on our Facebook page. The office will move on February 25.

Our new address will be 7199 Stonewall Parkway, Mechanicsville, VA 23111! Until we reopen at the new location, continue to shop and donate at our Atlee location!

Pack and Unpack the Store!

Can you give us 4 hours to help pack and unpack the ReStore? Please consider helping Habitat Staff and other volunteers pack and unpack ReStore inventory. There's some lifting involved however we'll have plenty of equipment to help with the process. Invite your friends to join the party, and sign up online.

Warmth for the Winter

“We need help more than we ever needed,” requested Mr. and Mrs. Shelton. Last year, they knew cold weather was coming and their heating and cooling system in their home was completely broken. Mr. and Mrs. Shelton are both disabled and surviving on a fixed income. She says, “with our income, we can’t afford to buy [a new heating and cooling system]. We won’t have heat through our house." They turned to Hanover and King William Habitat's critical repair program for assistance. Thanks to Habitat supporters, a new HVAC unit was put in their home in December. The family now can sit in a warm home and enjoy watching the snow fall in the comfort of their home!

Envision Hanover

Hanover County is currently working with residents, businesses, landowners, and other community members to update its Comprehensive Plan. This plan is a long-range guide for growth and development, establishing a vision of what the County could look like in twenty years.

Habitat’s priority in this process is to reinforce the need for more affordable housing in Hanover County. As this process moves forward and there are opportunities for community input, we appreciate Hanover residents expressing their support for affordable housing in the county.
