Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.  Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. 13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you. Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions.

Psalm 51:10-13

Tonight, at our Ash Wednesday service, worshipers will have the opportunity to receive ashes on their foreheads in the sign of the cross.  This cross of ash represents humiliation and repentance, but also forgiveness, cleansing, and renewal.  The ashes will be placed in the sign of the cross on our foreheads reminding us of what Christ has done and how we need Him and Him alone.

So what are those ashes?

Ashes have been used both as a repellent for pests and a repellent for bacteria.  People have used ashes around their plants for centuries to protect them from pests.  People also use ash on their bodies to cleanse wounds repelling bacteria and even death.  So ashes act both as a repellent and a cleansing agent. The ashes are burnt palm branches that were traditionally used the previous Palm Sunday. Pretty cool!

The cross of ashes received on our heads is nothing strange or magical.  It simply reminds us of our total dependence on God, not on ourselves. I don't know about you, but I need that reminder often.  The ashes also remind us of His sacrifice, His mercy, and His love.  I need that too.

Tonight, let us return to the Lord together.

In His Endless Love,

Pastor Austin

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Getting to know the people of Grace Fellowship

Meet Katie & Tommy Harmon

How long have you lived in the valley?

We have lived in the Vail Valley for almost 9 years. We're from Indiana but have lived in Dallas, Texas right after college for a couple of years before moving to the mountains.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

We love to hike, especially hikes we can do with our pup. One of our favorites is Nolan Lake in Fulford. We also enjoy floating down the river, going out to dinner, and evenings by our backyard fire pit (we live for summer.)

Tell us something fun about yourselves that we might not already know.

We built our own home in the Bluffs in Eagle 5 years ago. Like hammer and nails, installed the cabinets, laid the flooring. We definitely hired out for the big things early on, but for about 6 months, after working our full-time jobs, we drove to Eagle from Edwards and worked until we couldn't hold our eyes open anymore. After each night of work, we drove home, picked up Wendy's, went to sleep, repeat the next day. Our home was literally filled with our own blood, sweat, and tears before we even moved in!

Ti Amo Memories

Meeting this Thursday, February 23rd & March 16th.

Then meetings will resume on a regular weekly basis through April.

The Chosen Watch Party/Bible Study

Need something new to binge? How much time do you spend watching TV or a series? What if you spent some of that time watching a show that brought you closer to God? What if watching TV actually made you want to read your Bible more? This has been the experience in our household. We would love for you to join us in a "watch party"/ bible study of season 1 of "The Chosen".

The Chosen is a television drama based on the life of Jesus Christ, portraying Jesus "through the eyes of those who met him." We will be watching one episode and doing a quick bible study time each time we meet. There is no homework and no prerequisite knowledge needed. Pastor Austin will be in attendance to answer questions. Invite a friend and come watch with us.

There will not be childcare available. However, older children who would like to participate are welcome to attend. If your child is younger than 12 years old please reach out to Tiffany first.

When: Wednesday nights- 7:00 pm-8:30 pm

Starting March 8th- for 8 weeks (8 episodes in Season 1)

Where: Tiffany & Jeremy's house in Eagle or Church (depending on #'s)
