Congratulations to Mrs. Christa Creavey and her husband, Matt, who welcomed their first daughter, Anne-Mary Agnes Creavey.  Mrs. Creavey said, "She was named for her grandmothers and the special mother, St. Anne, and the most special of all, Our Lady.  Oh, and Agnes because
it was her feast day."

Below you will find some very important reminders regarding COVID-19 and Student Travel during the holiday seasons. Most importantly, please remember families are obligated to inform the school nurse if their YC student tests positive for COVID-19. Also, families who travel during this time of a world COVID-19 pandemic are obligated to inform the school of their travel destination. Please see below for more details.

Quarantine & Student Travel
When informed an immediate household member has been tested, the student or staff who resides in the same home will quarantine until the result of the test is confirmed negative. If the result of the immediate household member's test is positive, the student or staff member who resides in the same home will quarantine for 14 days.

Students or staff who may have been exposed to anyone with COVID19 are required to quarantine for 14 days, even if the student or staff tests negative or feels healthy since symptoms may appear 2 to 14 days after exposure to the virus. Please see the latest criteria from the Centers for Disease Control on "exposure" and "quarantine."

School staff and school community members will abide by the Diocese of Harrisburg requirement on quarantine for travelers to other states.  Any school staff or students traveling outside of PA are required to quarantine for 14 days. Likewise, any school staff or students entering the US from abroad (international travel) are required to quarantine for 14 days. Since international travel includes a wide range of situations, those affected bring their individual circumstances to the principal who will consult with the Secretary for Education to make a final determination.

This applies to those who have traveled outside of Pennsylvania. It does not apply to household members who did not travel out of state. However, if the individual who is under quarantine develops any signs or symptoms or has a positive test result, their close contacts, including household members, should also quarantine.

Anyone student or staff member who is required to quarantine must notify the following:

#GivingTuesday

Tuesday, December 1, is Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving back, which celebrates generosity and kindness. We hope you're able to join the millions who are making #GivingTuesday the huge success that it is worldwide!

We are blessed with generous alumni, parents, and community friends like yourselves who have continued to support our school for over 90 years.  We hope to continue to make a Catholic education possible for more than 600 young men and women, many of whom would not be able to attend without your generosity.

As December 31st approaches, many of you are looking at your charitable giving in terms of tax benefits. We ask you to prayerfully consider YC as a charity of choice for your year-end gifts to our annual York Catholic Fund.

Our York Catholic Fund supports every student by enriching extra-curricular programs, music and the arts, professional development for teachers, academic program support, athletic programs, technology, special projects, and operating expenditures. This year, we have a fundraising goal of $300,000 for the York Catholic Fund by June 30, 2021. Every gift, whatever the amount, counts and is truly valued.

Please click here to use our online donation page on Giving Tuesday, Tuesday, December 1, or any day.

Thank you for caring and giving!
Community Drives

The senior high student council is collecting NEW hats, scarves, and mittens for those in need in our community. Items can be placed on the Giving Tree in the lobby at York Catholic until December 18.

All students are collecting new toys for the York Toys For Tots program until December 18.  Please do not gift wrap.
Thanksgiving Schedule

School will be closed November 25-30.  York Catholic students earned a day off as a result of reaching their goal with the YC Christmas Cash Calendar fundraiser.  The earned day off will be Monday, November 30.  School will resume Tuesday, December 1.

Junior High Theatre Sets the Holiday Mood
York Catholic Junior High students will present "Deck the Stage," virtually December 12-13.  "Deck the Stage" by Lindsay Price is a show comprised of six short plays, all of which are inspired by Christmas carols such as: Deck the Halls, The Twelve Days of Christmas, and We Three Kings.  Enjoy a variety of performances in one show -- drama, comedy, physical comedy, otherworldly moments, monologues and more!  The deadline to purchase tickets and sponsorships has been extended to Friday, December 4.  Click here for more information.
Virtual Christmas Concert
Instruments and voices come together at York Catholic High School's Virtual Christmas Concert!  The senior high performers feature the Concert Choir, Concert Band, Jazz Bands and Brass Choir.  The junior high performers feature the Junior High Chorus and the Junior High Band.  Celebrate the season and enjoy the sounds of holiday spirit!  Click here by December 18 for your free virtual tickets to receive the concert link that is viewable December 19 through January 1.
Emergency Notifications
Notification
During inclement weather that would cause a school closing or delay of schedule, York Catholic will call/text/email you through our One Call Now Emergency Notification system.  Other modes of notification include WGAL TV-8, WPMT Fox43, and the YC website.  Students from individual school districts are automatically excused if their district closes and does not provide transportation to YCHS.  The exceptions to this are Southern and Southeastern.  These students follow York Catholic's delay and closing schedule.

Text Option Requires Your Action
In preparation for the colder months ahead, we have updated our "One Call Now" Emergency Notification System.  In the event our school schedule is adjusted due to weather, a phone call and an email will be sent to the contact information we have on file.

A text option is also available.  If you opted-in to receive text messages last school year, you do not need to do anything additional.  If you did not receive text messages last year and would like to, or you are new to our school, you must "opt-in" to receive text notification.

To do so, text the word ALERT to the number 22300.
Do not include any words other than the word ALERT.

After doing so, you will no longer receive a phone call at that number and will only receive a text message.

If you do not want to receive text notification, you do not have to do anything.  Your phone number and email address from our Vision system have automatically been entered into the One Call Now system.
Service Hours Update

Student service hours for the first semester were scheduled to be due to teachers the first week of December.  Due to the recent disruption of schedules, we are not requiring a first semester submission of hours.  All hours and projects will be due in April.
Sports & Class Pictures
Our photography company, Lifetouch, is in a temporary furlough period so there is a delay in their usual service.  They are aware of our desire to have photos in time for Christmas and are working to accommodate our request.
6th Grade Visits
6th grade students from our local partner schools will be visiting York Catholic during the month of December to take a tour of their future school and spend the day with a current Junior High student.

Holy Trinity - December 7, 11
St. John the Baptist - December 9, 10
St. Joseph, York - December 3, 4
St. Rose of Lima - December 8

Welcome to our future students!
New Student Applications for 2021-22
