Welcome to our newsletter. Once a month we will update you with news about David Matero Architecture and our community. We welcome your comments, questions and feedback.
Maine Branch
Interior finishes are nearing completion at the Maine Branch. We are looking forward to seeing the Douglas Fir accent walls merge into the loft stairs. This 700 sf cottage is nestled into the woods on the banks of the Back River. The wood stove on the screen porch will create a wonderful, and warm, setting for many seasons. Construction by Chartier Building & Remodeling.
Twisted Christmas
Leave your kids with a sitter and enjoy this year's Twisted Christmas. Like everything else last year, it was canceled, but the Studio Theatre of Bath is making up for it December 10 and 11 at 8pm at the Winter Street Center in Bath. A nice and naughty evening of entertainment, it's exactly what we need lately. Tickets can be purchased here.
Cold Spring Farm
Cold Spring Farm, a Georgian style brick farm, built in 1774 by loyalist William Lee who left Boston during the American Revolution, remains untouched. The 1935 addition, despite being redone in 1987, was not nearly as nice or historic, and has been removed for a new, energy efficient design. Construction by Chartier Building and Remodeling.
He/She Sheds
What started as the Maine Branch cottage near the water, with a future main house later, has now turned into the cottage being a full time residence and these small studios were added where the main house was going to sit. DMA designed opposing, yet complementary, work sheds for the owner's different lifestyles, which will be connected by a deck and pergola. Construction by Chartier Building & Remodeling.
Supporter's Shield!
It was a soccer month for David as he took a quick trip to Cincinnati to watch the USA Men's national team beat Mexico Dos a Cero. Then, in Foxboro before a New England Revolution game, he was able to hold up the Supporter's Shield. The Supporter's Shield is awarded to the MLS team with the best regular season record. However, it is not awarded to the team but to the supporters of that team who get to keep it for the year.
Views from the Jobsite
Framing is just about complete at Headline in Harpswell. The framed openings are spectacular, especially the two-story living room windows! Of course these will be triple-glazed, and along with thick insulated walls and a proposed HERS rating of 41 without solar, will be very comfortable and inexpensive to operate. Once solar is factored in we expect this project to be net-zero. Construction by Thorner Building Corp.
Centre Street Arts Gallery
Claudette Gamache is a prolific pastel artist who is drawn to the essence of nature, especially from her home at Popham Beach. Claudette will paint more than 20 layers of pastel in a meditation journey that she hopes the viewer experiences as well. More of her work can be found at Centre Street Arts Gallery, 11 Centre Street in Bath.
