All aboard the Delaware & Ulster Railroad in Arkville to be transported on a journey back to the sophisticated atmosphere of the early days of railroading where the creme of the fleet of DURR, the Rip Van Winkle Flyer, harkens visitors to a period when life's pace was more measured and good conversation was cherished entertainment.
DURR General Manager Wes Coates will talk about the role the railroad continues to have in our local economy and plans for 2019. 

Breakfast will be served as we travel the tracks for a short train ride.

NYS Department of Labor Offers Tax Incentives for Delaware County Businesses

Nearly 45 people were in attendance at   Chamber's first Friday eat & meet networking breakfast held at the Stamford Golf Course on June 7, where New York State Department of Labor representative Debbie Bender provided details on tax and other incentives available to Delaware County employers.

Opportunities for Business Growth in Walton

The Delaware County and Walton Chambers of Commerce, in collaboration with the Delaware County Industrial Development Agency, hosted an information session on Walton's designation as a New York State Opportunity Zone, on Thursday, June 6 at Molto Espresso in Walton. 


Thirty people representing municipal government, the real estate sector, and those seeking information on business expansion, were in attendance. Delaware County IDA Chairman Jim Thomson provided information about capital gains benefits and available assistance from the IDA.

Electrician's Helper Training in Delhi June 17 - 27

SUNY Delhi and CDO Workforce Development are hosting a 60-hour electrician's helper training from June 17 - 27, Monday - Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the SUNY Delhi Campus. 

Cost: $850 per person. Tuition assistance available for qualified candidates.

This training consists of a combination of lecture and lab classes and cover: safety; tools of the trade and their use; finding and interpreting schematic, wiring and one-line diagrams; Ohm's Law calculations involving curr ent, voltage, power and resistance in electrical circuits; recognize appropriate wi

ds in residential installations and more!

All students who complete the program will receive basic electrical tools.

Grand Opening of Trout Brook Studios in Hancock

On Saturday, June 1, the Chamber helped celebrate the grand-opening of Trout Brook Studios, a custom metal and woodworking design and furniture retailer located on East Front Street in Hancock. 

Owners   Vallessa Monk and Lars Haga welcomed friends, neighbors and customers with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. 



Chamber President Ray Pucci and Director Nancy Furdock helped celebrate the grand-opening of Trout Brook Studios on June 1.

The Farmhouse Caterers Celebrates Grand Opening of Roxbury Restaurant

Co-owners Sharon Buckler and Dale Andrews celebrated the grand-opening of their Roxbury restaurant The Farmhouse Caterers at the Shepard Hill Golf Course on Friday, June 7, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

$2K Incentive for Employers to Hire Unskilled Workers
 
The On-the-Job Training program gives applicants the opportunity to learn new skills for specific occupations while earning a paycheck.  The program offer employers up to $2000 per trainee towards the cost of training someone with limited experience for the position. 

The paperwork for this program is minimal and the payout is a loyal employee with the skills
needed to do the job.  CDO Workforce offers employers recruiting assistance for open positions and can also work with candidates that they have already interviewed and are interested in potentially hiring.

BOCES Grade-Level Reading Campaign 

The DCMO BOCES is launching a Grade-Level Reading (GLR) Campaign in Delaware County.  The GLR Campaign aims to both streamline and augment local literacy services.  We are seeking individuals to volunteer on a work team to set goals and brainstorm solutions in one of the following areas: School Readiness, School Attendance, and Summer Learning.  Teams will meet remotely once a month throughout the summer with the goal of creating a strategic plan by Fall 2019.
