LSC to Host Integrated Manufacturing Open House on October 7
|
|
Lake Superior College is excited to host the annual Integrated Manufacturing Open House on Thursday, October 7, 3-6 p.m., at the Downtown Center. Prospective students are invited to learn about the programs offered in the high-demand fields of manufacturing, tour LSC's downtown campus and learn more about beginning the application process. To help ensure the safety of all involved, masks and RSVPs are required and tour times will be spaced out.
Much like last year, the series of upcoming open houses will highlight all four campus locations and will be modified to ensure the health and safety of all involved. LSC's marketing and recruitment teams are working with faculty, academic deans, advisors and other support services on schedules, promotions and the important follow-up process after these tours take place. While tours can be scheduled on the advertised dates and times, they can also be schedule on different dates. These open houses are just as much about promoting the programs and campuses, and following up with those who express interest, as they are about the events themselves. We received very positive feedback and saw much higher conversion rates (tour guest to applicant) at open houses last year, even during a pandemic. Students and parents appreciate the more customized approach of having small group tours, having materials prepared in advance, and then having individual follow up after the tours.
Thank you to everyone involved with this first open house. We're looking forward to it. There's already high and growing workforce demands in manufacturing, and tours have already been scheduled.

Thank You to Local NAPA Auto Parts Business Development Group!
|
Earlier today, the local NAPA Auto Parts Business Development Group (made up of several local NAPA stores/owners) stopped by LSC's auto shops to donate nearly $10,000 worth of tools and equipment to LSC's auto program, through the Lake Superior College Foundation. Pictured here (from left) are Micah Faust from NAPA, LSC's VP of Advancement Daniel Fanning, LSC auto instructor Dean Magnuson, and several students in LSC's auto tech program. Please join us in thanking NAPA for their generous contribution and ongoing partnership! These types of community relationships and industry partnerships really help strengthen our already impressive academic programs, as well as help connect students and employers, and help LSC continue to address regional workforce needs. Thank you, NAPA!

Mask Up and Take the Shot, IceHawks!
Safety remains our highest priority. Masks/face covering continue to be required inside all public spaces on all Lake Superior College campus locations, regardless of vaccination status.
Vaccinations: Minnesota State is following the guidance from the State of Minnesota and Minnesota Department of Health on vaccinations of our students and employees. An all employee email went out today, September 8, and is also available on the website.
All state workers, including all LSC employees, must either be fully vaccinated or be tested for COVID every week. Employees are able to find additional information on available vaccines at www.mn.gov/covid19. While students are not currently required to be vaccinated (with exceptions in some programs, including some healthcare programs), we are strongly encouraging all students to get vaccinated as soon as possible. The most effective way we can reduce the spread of COVID-19 and avoid further restrictions as we move forward is to get vaccinated as soon as possible, if you’re not already. For more information on this and how to find a vaccine location, please visit mn.gov/covid19/.
