Michael D. Doyle Joins CRA Advisory Board

Michael D. Doyle was appointed to the CRA Advisory Board on July 22,

Mr. Doyle was nominated by Vice Chair Kevin Anderson and will serve a two-year term beginning August 1. The CRA Advisory Board consists of members who are professionals in landscape architecture, architecture, traffic planning, urban planning, environmental planning, civil engineering, legal,contracting, business, and real estate or other related disciplines. Mr. Doyle is a senior advisor with Landqwest Commercial and has been active in the commercial real estate market for over 30 years. He holds the CCIM designation.
Lee CARES Small Business Rehire Grant

English: APPLY NOW: Businesses have an opportunity to apply for help through the LeeCARES Business Rehire grant program. Assistance is available to eligible businesses (and some nonprofits; see below) that are rehiring employees laid off or furloughed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Grants of $5,000 are available for each full-time employee (or FTE equivalent) rehired. Funds can only be used for operating expenses not covered by other resources. Businesses receiving the federal Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) may be eligible if their covered loan period has expired. Businesses must have 250 or fewer employees, and the business owner must be a Lee County resident.

Business Spotlight: Premier Mobile Health Services
Premier Mobile Health Services, which provides services from a mobile office but is headquartered at the Southwest Florida Enterprise Center located at 3903 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., opened in the Dr. MLK, Jr. Blvd. redevelopment area in 2018. They provide a variety of medical services and testing to local people who do not have medical insurance.
Farmers Market Continues Free Garage Parking

Now through September 30, the River District is offering free parking in the Downtown parking garages to its patrons while it is open on Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parking vouchers are available at the market for use when exiting the garage.

Social distancing and other measures are in place for your safety. Enjoy plenty of produce and specialty foods, as well as food trucks, flowers, dog treats, and crafts.
CDC Safe Habits

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have a number of safe habits to follow during the COVID-19 pandemic. Wearing a cloth face covering, social distancing, and washing your hands frequently are just the beginning.

If you plan to have summer gatherings, here are new tips to help protect you and your family:

• Remind guests to stay home if they are sick.

• Arrange tables and chairs for social distancing of at least 6 feet apart.

• Encourage guests to bring their own food and drinks.
Business Spotlight: Sarlo Power Mowers
Sarlo Power Mowers, located at 2315 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, is a legacy busines s which has been operating in Fort Myers since 1935. They manufacture lawn mowers which they sell alongside other landscaping equipment.
$1,000 Government Grant for Freelancers, Gig Workers, Independent Contractors

Under the  CARES Act , independent contractors, gig workers, and freelancers affected by the COVID-19 crisis are eligible to receive a government grant of $1,000. Businesses do not have to repay this money to the government.

Eligible businesses include sole proprietorships with or without employees, independent contractors, freelancers, and gig workers. Applicants must have been in business as of January 31, 2020. Business owners must apply using the COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan Application, which provides for the grant even if the loan is not granted. Grant money is only available until December 31, 2020, or until funding runs out, whichever comes first.
2020 Census

The deadline to respond to the 2020 Census has been extended to October 31, 2020. Your response can make a difference in the community.

Participating in the Census every decade ensures that Southwest Florida receives its share of federal funding. One example is the $134 million of COVID-19 relief that Lee County has received through the CARES Act.
