Dear ALCM friends,
I have had a different look since we began streaming worship in early August. It is my way to avoid adding to the spread of the virus. I intend to remain in this “space suit” during worship until we are vaccinated. Who could have imagined wearing such a crazy outfit a year ago? (Some are saying who would wear such a crazy thing now!)
I have been so impressed and proud of ALCM members this year. You have led a new song through planning and coordinating socially distanced music. You have safely brought music into people’s homes through the magic of technology. Thank you for your flexibility and your determination to keep God’s song alive in people’s hearts, minds, and souls. My wife, Stephanie, and I this year are contributing $2,600 to ALCM in thanksgiving for your courageous ministry of music during a pandemic. I hope you will join us in prioritizing ALCM as part of your year-end charitable giving.
God’s blessings as you celebrate Advent and Christmas. I look forward to serving with you in 2021 when I do believe we will experience an eruption in the safe return of the song of God’s people!
E'en so, Lord Jesus, quickly come.
Jim Rindelaub
Executive Director

Virtual Carol Debut Today!
Please make a few minutes today (December 1) to drop into an ALCM Zoom Meeting Open House Virtual Carol Debut where the Virtual Christmas Carol, with 1,008 participants, will be revealed. Don't let your busy day keep you from joining us! Set an alarm now for the following times:
4:30 pm - 5:00 pm Eastern time
3:30 pm - 4:00 pm Central time
2:30 pm - 3:00 pm Mountain time
1:30 pm - 2:00 pm Pacific time
Spread the word as all ALCM members and friends are invited. If you are unable to enter the meeting on your first try, please try throughout the 30 minutes. Since Zoom only allows 100 people to attend the open house at a time, plan to log on, see the playing of the virtual carol, then log off making room for others to enter and see the next showing. The virtual carol will be shown at 4:32 pm eastern and will be replayed every 7 minutes after that (3:39 pm, 4:46 pm and 4:53 pm eastern).
Virtual carol setting arranger, Ann Krentz Organ, will attend giving some background on the creative experience.
At 5:00 pm Eastern time today, December 1, links to the virtual carol will be published at ALCM Virtual Christmas Carol for your use in Christmas services and programs. Please join us for this open house!

The Gift That Keeps on Giving
Looking for a gift for a fellow church musician or pastor? Consider the gift of membership in ALCM. If your gift recipient is already a member of ALCM, their membership will be extended by one year. If it is a new member, they will receive a new member packet filled with a wonderful assortment of materials to introduce them to ALCM. Because members receive publications and other benefits throughout the year, this is a gift that truly keeps on giving! To give a gift membership, complete the online gift form or print and mail the form with your check.

Biennial Conference Message
Dear friends,
This is the season of gratitude, and I bring you a message of thanks from your biennial conference planning committee. Thank you for your patience and prayers as we made the difficult decision to not proceed with our conference in 2021. Thank you to the many who have cheered us on with words of support and understanding. And thank you to the 185 of you who responded to our most recent survey. That’s a fantastic response rate! We've received many helpful comments and suggestions, reflecting a diversity of opinion. We’ll continue conversations over the coming months, both within the conference planning committee and in the organization as a whole, about how we can be most helpful in 2021. We look forward to seeing what creative paths the Holy Spirit will show us this year, and we eagerly anticipate being together again in person in 2023!
With all good wishes for a holy Advent and a joyful, peaceful Christmas,
Tim Getz
2021/2023 Conference Chair
