Distance Learning Support Program
We are excited to announce the opening of the temporary full-day childcare program, Explore N’ More. The program is designed to assist working families in distance learning, provide supervision for youth and teens, and provide recreational activities during the week. Explore N’ More is available for children TK-8th grade, and runs Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Willow Pass Community Center (classroom and arts/crafts room). We have 24 spaces available (2 groups of 12 students) with options to open additional sites based on demand.

Explore N' More will operate similar to our successful summer camp programs, lead by trained staff and following all COVID-19 health protocols. Here's what one parent shared after attending this summer:
"The summer camp was much needed during the pandemic. She thanked us so much for signing her up and she really looked up to her counselors. I am so grateful that she had a summer before having to go back to distance learning and that your counselors made it a safe environment"

We're hiring for Explore N' More! We'll be hiring additional staff to expand program sites. We are seeking enthusiastic, organized individuals who enjoy working and playing with kids! See our job openings below for Child Care Specialists 1 and 2.

West Concord/Iron Horse Trail Connection Project
Construction has begun on Concord’s West Concord/Iron Horse Trail Connection Project, funded by Transportation Development Act and Measure Q. This project connects the Iron Horse Trail to the West Concord Bikeways project that was completed last year, providing continuous bicycle access from the trail to Concord Avenue and Diamond Boulevard.

The project is anticipated to be completed at the end of August. Improvements include constructing Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacons, concrete median islands, a shared-use crosswalk, and an ADA-compliant path at the trail entrance by the Meridian Park Boulevard and Willow Way junction with the Iron Horse Trail.

So tune up that bike so you are ready to try out the new trail connection next month!
Guidance for Youth Sports
The Health Order now references the State’s guidance for youth sports, which provides guidelines for all youth sports programs, including school-based, club, and recreational programs.
  • Youth sports are permitted only when participants can maintain six feet of social distance at all times.
  • For sports that cannot be conducted with sufficient distancing or cohorting, only physical conditioning and training is permitted and ONLY where physical distancing can be maintained at all times. For example, a baseball game that requires a catcher and batter to be within six feet of each other, or a runner at first base to stand within six feet of the first baseman, is not permitted.
  • If a sport can’t be played maintaining six feet of distance, participants are limited to running drills or conditioning exercises that do allow social distancing.
  • Avoid equipment sharing, and if unavoidable, clean and disinfect shared equipment between use by different people to reduce the risk of COVID-19 spread.
  • Tournaments, events, or competitions, regardless of whether teams are from the same or different schools, counties, or states are not permitted at this time.
  • For group size restrictions - The Health Officer’s Order on Social Distancing Section 15.f.xxvi recommends the following: It is recommended that children remain in groups as small as possible, preferably stable groups of 12 or less.
Visiting Parks and Outdoor Recreational Facilities
Staying physically active is one of the best ways to keep your mind and body healthy. Concord’s extensive park system provides endless opportunities for people to get fresh air, exercise, enjoy nature and relieve some stress.

You and your family can make the most of your outdoor experience by staying safe and doing everything you can to slow the spread.
