We look forward to Golf this coming week starting with The SOCAR CAPE Novruz Trophy 2021, be sure to join this two round event played on Saturday and Monday. Sunday will see the much acclaimed Bernardi / McGhee Match Day Trophy played between Celtic and Rangers. Below are our planned opening times for the coming week, we look forward to seeing you soon. 

**As Andrew updates us in his course news, we have implemented the Preferred lie rule throughout the course along with a section of G.U.R Ground Under Repair at the back of the 12th Green as we complete the grow in of this extended collar section. We ask players to check the notices at the academy or ask the team for more details if you are unsure.
Medal Series 2021 - March Monthly Medal
Congratulations to the 45 players that participated in our first (March Medal) as part of our 2021 Dreamland Golf Club Medal Series. Starting the Medal series earlier than previous years gives players more chance to accumulate points needed to win through to the final in October. Despite cooler conditions last weekend it didn’t stop some great golf being played, as is the test of Medal Stroke Play – every shot counts so we encourage every member to partake this season. Well done to San Jung Park and Kenny Martin who receive the Divisional Medal Winners mug along with a gift voucher credited to their members account. 
SOCAR CAPE Novruz Trophy 2021
Tomorrow sees the start SOCAR CAPE Novruz Trophy 2021, there is still time to enter and join us. For Saturday 20th of March’s score you simply book your own tee time and submit the competition card.  As the event is played from White Tees your score can count to the Roll Up as well. On Monday 22nd of March we will return for the FINAL round with TEE TIMES DRAWN in score order from 10.00am.

Commenting on the event “Our annual trophy was started in 2016 as intracompany event that was expanded in 2019 to attract golfers outside of SOCAR CAPE and has always been a great fixture to start the season, in a change for this year the event will be over 2 days and played at Dreamland, as the final round at Quba is not possible due to the current situation. I look forward to seeing as many players participate as possible – Ilgar Ahmadov General Director SOCAR CAPE.
Celtic V Rangers
The Bernardi / McGhee Celtic Rangers Trophy will be played on Sunday 21st of March – 9.00am shotgun start. Teams will be selected by Captains Bob McEwan and Les Tulleth for this 24 per side popular fixture. Tee times will open from 11.20am for member and guest play on that day from tee 7.
Dreamteam Updates
Ahead of the coming season we would like to update and introduce personnel who will be joining the Dreamland team. Arriving from the UAE is Tom Henderson PGA Professional previously with Jumeriah Golf Estates and the Montgomerie Dubai. Tom, who worked at The National Azerbaijan Golf Club - Quba 2014 - 2015 joins the team in a teaching and operations role to start the golf season in Baku. We are still confident that with Alex Day (currently based at Education City Golf Club in Doha Qatar) will return to Dreamland after Ramadan for our summer season May - November. Tom will open his tuition diary from next Thursday and is available to help members with their game – a great chance for you to use your complimentary “Swing Check” voucher in your membership packs. In developing our National Team players Nabi Efendi and Huseyn Babazade will join our Golf Academy and Golf Operations Team this month as they embark on careers within Golf and Leisure. We wish them well for the future and know they will learn a lot here at Dreamland.
We are pleased to announce the extension of our Management contract with IMG till 2023. Russell Hannah IMG’s Director of Golf and frequent visitor to Baku, will continue his guidance to the team having been involved with Dreamland for the last 7 years. Following the clubs growth and more recently transiting through a very testing 2020,
 
Russell’s continued support comes with the announcement that Phil Jones, our General Manager is departing Azerbaijan for a new position in the Middle East. Commenting on the move Phil Jones “After 7 years in creating Dreamland Golf Club, the time has come for me to take up my next career opportunity. What started out as a two year assignment quickly became a much longer term project. Despite the challenges of recent times, I am pleased that we have created many memorable moments on and off course, helping to put Azerbaijan on the golfing map. None of this would have been possible without the people that have supported me along the way. I will always be proud of our Azerbaijani team who continue to grow their agronomy knowledge, customer service skills, event knowledge and tuition skills whilst hosting players with their warm hospitality. I look forward to following the success of Dreamland members in the years ahead and will carry on supporting golf in Azerbaijan. With the hot Middle Eastern summers… The plan is to get back to Baku to enjoy some weekend golf!"

Anton Samsonov - Anton continues his great marketing and exposure for Golf In Azerbaijan as a Dreamland Golf Club Ambassador, with Quarantine extended now till 1st of June tourism remains on hold, however he has secured Team Azerbaijan a place in the CIS cup to be staged in Belek Turkey 25th - 29th October. We look forward to him visiting us as flights and e visas resume.

  • The Driving Range will OPEN until 18.30pm. Last balls issued at 18.00pm.

ARRIVAL
  • Access through the MALL entrance – ONLY WITH TEE SHEET BOOKING
  • Each guest will have their temperature checked and Vehicle Baggage Check at the GATEHOUSE. Any person (Member or Employee) recording a temperature of 38 degree will not be allowed access to the property. If you are feeling unwell with a temperature we ask that you please STAY HOME.
  • Travel through Dreamland Access Barriers to the GOLF ACADEMY CAR PARK.
  • ARRIVE - 10 minutes before your game to the GOLF ACADEMY – Your Golf Equipment will be prepared for READY GOLF
  • Proceed to the GOLF COURSE without delay – 7th Tee (finishing on Hole 6)
  • Upon Completion of your game you can leave Dreamland within the shortest time possible to avoid interaction with fellow guests.
 
SAFETY MEASURES
We have the following safety measures in place at Dreamland, for Golf Members and Employees.
  • The wearing of a MASK IS COMPULSARY AT ALL TIMES including your during Your Game!
  • Social distancing is a MUST – maintaining a 2 metre distance is crucial AT ALL TIMES.
  • Hand washing and sanitizing is VITAL– we have stations in place for this to happen.
  • Always follow the hygiene instructions and disinfect or wash your hands before and after the game, avoid touching your face, mouth, eyes.
  • No contact with playing partners (replace 18th-green handshake with shoe bumps, elbow bumps, or Namaste bow….)

Retail News
Whilst we will still operate from the Academy for the Novruz Holiday, the Clubhouse pro shop will be open from 1pm – 5pm from Monday – Friday for anyone interested in buying clothing or accessories. Well done to Andrew Ikstrums on leading the European Tour Fantasy League for February. Cash prizes are awarded for most fantasy points accumulated each month. We currently have 10 participants and runs over 10 months for the duration of the European tour schedule. Drew the (Grass Cutter) won this month winning 100AZN with a great week at the World Golf Championships @ Concession GC Florida. Saturday 13th of March 2021 – Saturday Roll Up Results
Weather conditions were good on last Saturday and 33 members took this opportunity to participate in weekly Roll Up. Winner was Ryan Baxter with 5 under par 41 points. Ilgar Ahmadov scored 4 under par 40 points to take the second place. Third place came from Bayram Erdogan with his 3 under par 39 points.
Last Saturday three players had 2s on their scorecard – Ian Allan birdied the 5th hole, whereas John Salins and Wade Droney birdied the 17th hole to put 2 on their scorecards. They also shared last week’s rolled over 2s club prize money.
Range Balls
We apologies that range users are finding some inferior practice balls within the current consignment. We have contacted the manufacturer and are in talks to replace over the coming weeks. We look forward to providing an update very soon – Academy Team.
Course Update
Course rejuvenations are progressing well and ahead of schedule. Tees, foregreens, rough and fairways will be completed by the end of the week. It has been super effort by the agronomy team and even better when we see the results of the rejuvenation processes this spring. The weather seems to be improving with warmer overnight and daytime temperatures forecast for the week ahead.
