Dear WSMS Parents and Guardians,

This is Homecoming Week in Lovejoy!  If you haven’t been following the varsity football team, they are ranked #3 in the state and will play Denison (#7) this Friday night.  It should make for a great evening of football.  In addition to football, our band, color guard, cheerleaders, and Majestics provide a great show during the game and at halftime.

This Friday is also our first Club Day of the year at WSMS.  The purpose of Club Day is for students to get connected on campus.  They signed up for a first and second choice last week.  This week they will find out which choice they will attend.  We have clubs such as the K9 Club, Extreme Club, and my favorite (because it’s my club), the Cornhole Club.  We will adjust our bell schedule on Friday to add an additional period where students will spend 45 minutes in their club.  Students must stay in this club for the first semester and then we will have sign ups for the second semester Club Days after we come back from  Christmas Break.  Club Day is always a big hit and an opportunity for students to meet others who have the same interest as they do.  You can find more information below.  Have a great week!!

Willow Springs Proud,

Kevin

Campus Reminders
“Stop The Bleed” Student Training
Welcome to the “Willow Springs “Stop The Bleed” training program. This program is a difference maker and will allow students to possess a critical skill set that can be carried with them throughout their entire lives. Stop The Bleed training allows students to learn how to administer initial care in a life threatening situation to an injured individual.

Although this training is not mandatory for our students, we are required by state law (86RHB496) to offer it to all students in grade levels 7-12. If you choose to sign your child up for this free training, keep in mind they will be exposed to photographs of injured individuals that will contain severe injuries. Students will learn how to tend to laceration, broken bones, puncture wounds, etc. Students will also learn skills such as applying a tourniquet, applying pressure to injuries and bandaging an injured individual.

Our safety and security foundation is built on the “Force Multiply” concept. We believe in empowering our teachers, staff members, students, parents and community members with knowledge that can save lives!

If you would like to register your child for this training, please click on the link below. Each class is limited to 40 spots. The sessions will be led by LISD security personnel. Participating students should report to the cafeteria after dismissal.
