From Rev. Brock Patterson
“Spring is Here!”
Spring has arrived and the weather is already better in the tropics. Those of you who are in other parts of the world still have some cold days ahead, but the glimpses of Spring’s sunlight remind us that we have lots of reasons to have hope for the future.
During the course of history, every culture has celebrated Spring as an important time. Symbolized by the return of the sun, green sprouts from the trees, longer days, and warmer temperatures, Spring has served as a reminder that new life is still on the horizon, no matter how dark it appears.
Throughout my life, hope has been something that I’ve always held closely. Even in the darkest and most terrible times, I’ve been able to find hope in something. Granted, there have been times when the only hope I had was that God loved me. But, somehow, that was enough to carry me to the next step in life. Yes, one might say that I’m an eternal optimist. At times, some might say that I’m living in denial of reality. In fact, you (the Chapel ) pay me to be optimistic and happy. However, even the most optimistic person can struggle.
Being a part of The Chapel is one way God provides us with Hope. When we share with one another in our Chapel family, our burdens are eased by compassionate sharing and our doubts are assured by God’s continued work. Yes, we can bloom doing life alone; however, we are more beautiful and full when we blossom with others who are “planted” beside us - our family that God has provided in The Chapel.
We have lots of reasons to be optimistic! It doesn’t mean that challenges aren’t ahead or dark clouds won’t roll in from time to time. But God has not forgotten us, as individuals, families, churches, and communities. All around us, God is showing signs of Hope and Life!
Spring has arrived and it’s awesome to be a part of God’s great work! It’s wonderful to experience God’s blessings firsthand! We are witnessing it together and I can’t wait to see what God has planned next!
See you this Sunday, in person and online, at the Chapel!
God Bless. Brock.
