What's Next?

Maybe some of you have been wondering what changes are up next for us?
  • We have started meeting in-person again.
  • Many of you have been fully vaccinated for COVID.
  • The CDC guidelines are changing weekly.
  • Our own state guidelines are changing.

So what's next?
What will Holy Week be like?
When can we sing?
When can we chare from the common cup?

These are all good questions
and we are looking into coming up with plans to address them.

I can share this: many of the "what's next?" plans will depend on the county guidelines as well as how the next four weeks go for COVID cases.

Also, we are planning to have services that reflect the uniqueness of the season.

I want to thank everyone for being patient during this time and for for being understanding as we continue to move forward together.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS

Stations of the Cross has been a Lenten tradition here at Holy Trinity for many years. It is a remembering of Way of the Cross; Jesus' journey to the cross.

As announced last Sunday, we will be having Stations of the Cross on two Fridays during this season of Lent. The first one will be this Friday, March the 5th and the second will be on March 19th. We will have booklets at the church, but will give you the option to download the booklet to your device as well.

We will meet at 5:30 and will ask that you find a good spot in the sanctuary. We will be stationary during this service and simply turn our bodies to face the appropriate station as we move through the liturgy.

If you would like to use Stations of the Cross in your own space to remember, we have included a link for a complete recorded service a

Dinners for Our Neighbors

HOPE
We are so blessed by those parishioners who consistently show up with steaming gifts of home-cooked food for the Tuesday night dinners for our homeless neighbors. This has been a difficult time in so many ways. The number of dinner guests has shrunk during the COVID times to 3 or 4 a week. I'm guessing that our guests miss the camaraderie of "inside" dinners, and we will be eager to take those up again when restrictions lift.
But the food definitely doesn't go to waste. Whatever is left over goes to Spirit Center or to the Sierra Roots Thursday lunch at the First Baptist Church across from the Courthouse.
So much constant giving! But we always welcome new faces to help us serve and offer an open ear to chats with the diners.
We have moved dinnertime from 4 pm back to 5 pm, now that there is more evening light. If you would like to donate a dish for our Tuesday dinners, please contact me at the phone or email site listed below. I am at church to receive contributions one hour before dinnertime
The next 3 upcoming Trinity Tuesday night dinner dates will be:
  • March 16
  • March 30

Lent is a great time to initiate a routine of helpfulness, don't you think?

On another helpful front:
Holy Trinity Now Partnering with
Interfaith Food Ministry
Holy Trinity Parish is now officially a member of the Interfaith Food Ministry (IFM) ...
(that's where we take the food in the basket that lives in the narthex).
I thought you might like me to share the following statistics of service to our community by this wonderful organization.
In 2019, IFM served 9,069 unique individuals and distributed 104,335 bags of food.
In 2020, IFM served 11,261 individuals and distributed 145,000 bags of food.
There are 13,500 food insecure individuals in Western Nevada County.
In 2019, IFM reached 60.1% of these individuals.
In 2020, IFM increased its reach to 84.3% of these people.
Individual volunteers are always welcome at IFM.
Donations of $$ are happily accepted. IFM purchases surplus foodstuffs (canned goods, packaged pasta, nuts, chips and many various food items) at 19 cents a pound. Where else could you get such a bang for your donation buck?
Now that church is open on Sunday, it will be easier to drop off your food items in the basket.
Respectfully submitted,

Carol Fegté
