Remember to fill out the Census if you haven't already. Covid-19 really put a kink into the works as far as getting the Census completed. It is not too late! Go to https://2020census.gov/en.html or stop into the library to ask for helping getting to the site. It is quick and you'll be doing your part as a citizen to make sure you are counted. Many government agencies and services rely on accurate census numbers to make decisions about spending needs. This is the last official way to get counted until the next census in 2030. Everyone should be counted: babies, homeless populations, and more. It really matters!

Because of Covid-19, we pushed library card renewal dates back for many patrons. If you gave us an email address, you will receive a notice a month ahead of your card's expiration date. Typically, we ask that patrons come into the Library in person to renew their card. We are open and the renewal process is quick and easy. All you need to do is bring in your card and your photo ID showing your current Dover address. If your current address isn't on your ID, then please also bring in a utility bill, car registration or pay stub showing your name, a recent date and your physical address. If you'd prefer to continue using the Library remotely, we can renew your card online. To do this please send a photo of your library card, the front of your photo ID, and if necessary, a photo of your other proof of address to [email protected]. Please include "library card renewal" in the subject line.

We are offering movies on the Library's front lawn on Monday and some Tuesday evenings. Movie times will get progressively earlier as *sniff* the daylight hours get shorter. See the schedule here or pick up a handy bookmark with the details at the Library. We are limited to 50 people per showing, and ask that everyone maintain social distance and wear a mask when not seated. Bring something to sit on and food and drink to enjoy. Please plan on taking your trash home with you after the movie.

Want to learn more about using the popular and necessary program called Zoom? Sign up for a virtual class on Zoom on our event calendar. Our technology librarian Peggy, will teach you the basics to get online with friends and family members using Zoom. The class will "meet" on Thursday, September 17 at 11am.

Teens in grades 7-12 are invited to join our Teen Advisory Board on Monday, September 14 at 6PM. Teen Advisory Board members help plan upcoming teen programs and services at the library. We want to know what you'd like the library to offer, especially during these challenging times. Your voice matters! This month's meeting will be held on the library's front lawn. Please register in case of bad weather, in which case we will meet virtually via RingCentral. A meeting link would be sent 30 minutes prior to the meeting's start time. All teens are welcome!

Teens in grades 7-12 are welcome to bring home a Take & Make Kit filled with supplies needed to make a small craft. The first kit will contain supplies to make two wish bracelets (one for you, and one for a friend!). Wish bracelet kits will be available beginning September 1, and can be picked up in the Teen Loft (one per teen, please). Be sure to check our event calendar for upcoming Take & Makes.
