This month the excitement continues as we count the days towards our “Spiritual Camp” which will take place October 19-21 with the support of Trailways. It will be days and nights of fun and games with the added component of a spiritual focus on praise and prayer.
We thank all the volunteers and helpers in advance who have committed their time to help create new and lasting memories for our residents. The interest has been so high that we already anticipate holding a second such camp in March next year! We also extend very special thanks to the Robert V. and Benjamin G. Miller Fund for making these opportunities possible. God is good!
In September we celebrated “Fiesta Game Day”. It was a day of fun as residents and volunteers played Uno, life-size Connect Four, Corn Hole, had a Bingo tournament, enjoyed Putt-Putt games, and participated in arts and crafts followed by a picnic lunch, movie, and popcorn. We ended with a time for Bible study, praise songs, and everyone’s favorite, a taco bar!
Later in the month, a gracious donor offered a beach excursion to a Marco Island hotel. Residents, staff, volunteers, and special guests, shared a wonderful day of fellowship. The fun included beach games, the resort pool, and the added bonus of a delicious lunch.
We are eternally grateful for our donors who partner with us and whose generosity allows our clients to live their very best lives. Behind the Smiles, is a spirit of gratitude, evident on all the happy faces at Protected Harbor.
Finally, we are blessed to welcome Clarissa Miller who joins Protected Harbor as our first AmeriCorps Vista. She will be engaged in expanding existing programs and services while helping to create new ones. These will help us to achieve our strategic goals to reach and enrich the lives of more of God’s Special People. For this we are thankful.
“For the ministry of this service is not only fully supplying the needs of the saints, but also overflowing through many thanksgivings to God” 2 Corinthians 9:12.
