COVID-19 Updates:
- Hospital capacity and ICU bed availability in Colorado is decreasing, and many hospitals are starting to implement their surge plans.
- As of Sept. 10, there were 902 COVID-19 hospitalizations, with 17 of them being pediatric hospitalizations. This is the second-highest number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients of the entire pandemic.
- 81% of the COVID-19 patients who are hospitalized as of Sept. 10 are unvaccinated.

COVID-19 Vaccine Information:
- As of Sept. 13, 80.1% of eligible Broomfielders (age 12 and older) are fully vaccinated. Of Broomfield's total population, 69.4% is fully vaccinated. As a reminder, about 13.5% of Broomfield’s population is currently unable to get vaccinated due to age (11 or younger.)
- CDPHE has released a vaccine breakthrough data dashboard. As of last week, unvaccinated individuals are 3.4 times more likely to contract COVID-19, are 3.7 times more likely to be hospitalized with COVID-19, and are 5.8 times more likely to die from COVID-19 than individuals who are fully vaccinated. These numbers show that the currently available vaccines in the U.S. continue to protect against severe disease, hospitalization, and death.
- Find a COVID-19 vaccine near you at Broomfield.org/COVIDVaccine! If you have questions about vaccine distribution or safety, please call the state's hotline at 1.877.268.2926. Trained call center operators can give information in multiple languages.

- The Broomfield Police Department Animal Services Unit rescued a group of kittens from a storm sewer last week. The kittens were without a mother and were searching for food and water. A good samaritan spotted them and attempted to feed them until ASOs arrived. It took more than four hours to lure three of the kittens out of the pipes where they were hiding. A fourth was captured the next day when it finally decided to come out of hiding. The babies were reunited and transported to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley for care. Great work ASO Donna Shephard and Nicole Sydow!
