STUDENT WELLNESS
Dear Families,

Marin County Office of Education recently hosted two virtual events with Dr. Madeline Levine, psychologist, educator, co-founder of The Stanford Graduate School of Education's Challenge Success, and New York Times Best Selling author. You can view a recording of the webinar here.

I offer this resource in light of recent local tragedies, because Dr. Levine discusses strategies to help alleviate student anxiety and her most recent book, "Ready or Not: Preparing Our Kids to Thrive in an Uncertain and Rapidly Changing World."

With regard to recent student tragedies in the county, Dr. Gold is working with teachers in our upper grades to support students as needed. The professional consensus is that it is not recommended to bring up the topic of suicide in younger children, unless we know they have been touched by it. It is further recommended that we avoid overwhelming children with too much information, and instead we make ourselves available to answer questions in a calm, non-judgmental way. Here's a pretty straight forward guide by age for parents as well as an article from Parents magazine here.

Sincerely,
Lexie Cala

Trimester 2 Report Cards
Most report cards are ready for viewing and available via Alma. Most families received an email this afternoon with their child's report card attached. Please direct questions about grade to your child's teacher. If your child has been previously, or is currently enrolled in IDL/XDL, please see the note below.

IDL/XDL Families
We have run into a variety of technical challenges in preparing report cards for you children. We are working hard to repair these issues with a goal of being able to share report cards with you by this time next week. We apologize for the inconvenience as we know your children have been working hard, and we look forward to sharing their progress with you!
Distance Learning (Phase 1 Schedule) after Spring Recess from April 12th – 15th
This protocol remains in place as many families have already made travel plans for Spring Recess and we continue to follow Marin Public Health guidelines under the Decision Tree for Schools – Tier 2 | Red. This week of distance learning will also be used to make campus adjustments that are necessary to transition to Phase 4.
Phase 4 Planning is Underway
All RUSD schools are planning to bring students back for longer days, 5 days a week. We will continue to share updates as they are available in the coming weeks.
