It's really hard to believe that it is November! With temperatures in the 60's and 70's, many folks are taking to the area parks and shores to enjoy these unexpected last moments of beautiful weather.

Here at the Center and beyond, we have been busy preparing for the Eastern Maine Cancer Series coming right up on November 17, 18 and 19 on Zoom. There will be a great line-up of presenters, patient panels, followed by interactive discussions. We are also very excited to announce the 1st Annual Beth Wright Cancer Festival Of Lights! The Center's gardens and wooded areas will come to life with the heartwarming lights of the winter season. This exciting event will be held every Friday and Saturday from 4:30 - 7:30 pm starting on December 4 through January 2. We will be raffling off at special hand-crafted large Victorian Model House Replica designed and built by Ralph Jordan of Ellsworth. Hot chocolate will be served. See details below about the raffle and scheduling a time to come enjoy this celebration!

We must be even more vigilant now than ever as COVID-19 moves into the areas where we live, work and play. We are continuing to present programs and events on Zoom as we have since last April. Please explore the special Zoom events that are coming up, published here in this newsletter and on our website.

November 17, 18 & 19, 2020
The Beth Wright Center is happy to announce its first Annual Festival Of Lights. We will be offering an opportunity for the community to gather safely outside following COVID guidelines to enjoy a night of surprise and wonder as we light up our gardens and woods.

The festival will run for five consecutive weekends - Friday and Saturday nights from 4:30 to 7:30, beginning December 4th and ending January 2nd, including the Christmas, and New Year’s night. We will offer three sessions per evening and limit the number of guests to 35 per session. We are requesting that you call the center at 664-0339 to make your reservations or visit www.bethwrightcancercenter.org and click on the Festival of Lights slide. This will allow us to safely hold the event within the state COVID guidelines. 

We will also be raffling off a hand-crafted large Victorian Model House Replica, which was designed, built, and donated by Ralph Jordan of Ellsworth. Tickets are $5.00 each or 6 for $25.00. The replica is on display at the JB Atlantic building on Main Street in Ellsworth for viewing. You can also see it and purchase tickets online HERE. The raffle will be drawn at the finale of the Festival Of Lights on Jan 2.

There is no admission charge, but we will gladly accept donations and we are very thankful to our sponsors Bar Harbor Savings and Loan and Kalmarine for giving us this opportunity to celebrate winter and project hope for the coming new year for our Center and the community at large. Hot chocolate will be served. Looking forward to seeing all our neighbors and friends at this upcoming event.

Recently we have resumed a couple of on site services, allowing a limited number of people to be permitted to return for appointments with Therapeutic Massage with Faith Perkins and Reflexology with June Atherton. (see left)

Precautions have been taken to reduce the spread of COVID-19.  

All staff, practitioners and visitors are required to wear masks and practice good hand-washing practices. In addition, traffic flow through the building is limited, rooms are well-ventilated, all touchable surfaces are disinfected in between sessions, visitors will be allowed in the building one at a time and expected to wait in their car or outdoors until their appointed time.

Visitors can expect to have their temperature taken, answer questions about possible exposure and past travels, and sign waivers upon arrival.
