The Franklin Food Bank has been serving the food needs of our local community since 1975. To sum up the past 46 years in as short a statement as possible, we have seen a lot.

Disasters like hurricanes, house fires, economic recessions, and devastating pandemics - just to name a few - they activate emergency services such as ours. Recently, Hurricane Ida destroyed many homes and businesses in the area, including other food pantries. It was because of our experience and history of continuous service (and our luck in being spared by the storm) that we were able to help address the fallout of Ida in the middle of Covid.

The thing about a disaster is - you don't see it coming. Unexpected financial obligations caused by life's bad days can lead to really tough situations for families. They create impossible questions and the answers are not optional, you HAVE to choose. What's more important - paying to fix the car so you can go to work or paying for groceries so the family can have meals this week? Pose that question hypothetically to any parent and they would struggle with even the thought of an answer. Imagine it's real life. It is real life. For our neighbors, mine and yours.

The food bank is here to catch people when they trip over one of life's disasters. We make sure families DON'T have to choose between feeding their loved ones and paying a non-negotiable bill. As we enter into fall - a season chock full of bounty and cheer, please know that the food bank is here, ready to help with whatever life may throw at our neighbors. And know that it's because of you that we are in the position to help in the first place. Your contributions to our cause have a direct and positive impact in our local community. We are forever thankful for the support we have received. It's the only way we will get through the next disaster.
