Dear IS Families,
This week Intermediate School students engaged in their first lesson with our Second Step curriculum to support development of social-emotional skills. The lessons in Second Step teach children techniques to gain confidence, set goals, make better decisions, collaborate with others in work and play, and navigate the world more effectively. Throughout the school year, students will participate in Second Step lessons weekly with their homeroom teacher.
Students will also soon be reviewing the No Place for Hate pledge in their homeroom this week. Students will review the pledge as a class, discussing what this means and looks like in their classroom and our school, they will then decorate their poster together and sign the pledge! To review the pledge and discuss with your child at home, click here.
On Tuesday, August 31, the Pennsylvania Department of Health issued an order requiring face coverings in all school entities. Chartiers Valley Schools will be upholding this state mandate for all staff and students grades K-12 and on all district transportation beginning Tuesday, September 7. Please let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to continuing our efforts to keep our students, staff, and community healthy during the 2021-2022 school year.
The District has received several requests to discontinue the daily Health Status Update emails. Out of respect for those who are finding these emails to be overwhelming, we will no longer send daily messages. We will, however, continue to update the case count tracker on the website, and we are working on adding a "Students and Staff in Quarantine" section. Visit the COVID-19 Updates page on the District website for more information and answers to some FAQs.
We wish all of our Intermediate School students and families an enjoyable holiday weekend. We greatly appreciate your support and assistance in your child’s educational journey!
