August 2021
it's a new dawn, it's a new day, and it's also Summer!
Greetings,

I am happy to announce that the American Tap Dance Center is now open and we are currently offering new IN-HOUSE classes for Adults. (details below).

It's been a long time coming, but we are finally able to open our doors to adults who can prove that they have been vaccinated. If a student is not vaccinated they must wear a mask while in the facility and taking class.

So, if you are interested, drop by at anytime. We continue to create a healthy and safe environment for all of our students, teachers, artists in residence, audience members and renters, and we will continue to share all the updates to our health and safety protocols.

Meanwhile, we are still offering a number of virtual classes through the Summer. (see below)

Both Summer schedules will continue until September 2nd. Then we take a short break over Labor Day and then we begin both our Fall Year-Round Youth and Adult Programs. (also see below)

Have a glorious summer and if we don't see you in class in August we look forward to your participation in the Fall!

Classes for Adults
On-Going/All Levels
Year-Round Youth Program
Our youth program classes offer children and teens a chance to become immersed in tap culture. Classes focus on the fundamentals of rhythm tap, including clean technique, classic and contemporary tap repertory, and improvisation skills. Tap history, films, jazz music, and special guests deepen students’ appreciation of this great American art form. Our teachers bring decades of experience to the studio and create a warm, supportive and fun environment for learning.
The ATDF Youth Program is designed as a nine month program that runs from mid-September through mid-June. Each class builds cumulatively using a specific tap curriculum towards a performance at the end of the year. Please plan to make a full year commitment to your child’s tap class so that she/he has a satisfying learning experience.

JUST RELEASED AUDIO BOOK:
SONG OF THE SPLIT ELM by Brenda Bufalino on audible.com.
Narration, music & concertina: Brenda Bufalino
Vocal: Alice Baum
Sound Recording and Editing: Michael Starobin
Executive Producer: Donna Starobin

Who was she? My lost ancestor … that artist, breaking the code of silence by singing, by dancing, by telling what she saw and what she felt. Nothing could have been more dangerous for my great grandmother, the daughter of a Calvinist preacher in 1853. Did she pay the price for me to be free, to live the life of a female artist and not be in constant danger?

REVIEW EXCERPT: “The characters are fully alive, their stories engaging and the writing at times intensely lyrical.” Mikhail Horowitz, Performance Poet

The book has 5 Stars and many reviews on amazon.com. Now, just released on audible.com, it’s your chance to write a review.

Other books by Brenda Bufalino
Tapping the Source…tap dance stories, theory and practice
Circular Migrations… a book of poems and monologs for performance
