SUPPORT LD 693

Safe Boating for All Who Use Maine's Lakes

Please join 30 Mile, Maine Lakes, and many others in supporting LD 693, a bill that aims to protect water quality, wildlife, and safety through common sense regulations for large wake-producing activities.

This bill was proposed by the Maine Boating Impacts Coalition, a group of organizations and individuals concerned about the damage and danger they have seen from large wakes, who want a solution that will allow safe boating, including wake boating, on Maine’s waters.

This policy solution will:

  • Reduce wake-caused erosion of fragile lake shorelines
  • Keep lake water clean by reducing sediment disturbance in shallow water and close to shore
  • Protect lakeside and shallow habitat for nesting loons, fish and other species
  • Ensure safe waters close to shore for families, swimmers, and other boaters
  • Reduce damage to personal property like docks and moored boats
  • Keep wake boat activities in deeper water where they perform the best

Please speak up in support of LD 693 at the upcoming public hearing.

Wednesday, March 22, at 1:00 p.m.

Save your spot:

Sign up today for a summertime erosion project

30 Mile’s Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) program is a low-cost, environmentally-friendly landscaping option for shorefront property owners in the 30 Mile River watershed. 30 Mile’s YCC crew ultimately works to protect water quality and reducing the amount of sediment and phosphorus reaching our lakes by installing conservation practices that correct erosion problems and capture and treat stormwater runoff.

30 Mile is currently seeking project hosts to fill our 2023 project schedule. Sign up today for an erosion project to save your spot!
