Haverford Business Developments - August 2021
Mariesa Christine Hinchey 1980-2021

HPED is grieving the loss of our own Mariesa Hinchey, who died suddenly over the summer at the age of 41 of a heart attack. Mariesa had been project coordinator for HPED for the past year and a half, and she quickly won the hearts of our board, staff, and businesses in the Township. Her cheerfulness, warmth, and dedication to HPED will be dearly missed.

Thank you to everyone who donated to our fundraiser to support her husband Bernie and two sweet little girls, ages 3 & 5. A huge thank you to House Cup Coffee & Cafe who donated 100% of sales on Saturday, July 10th, and to all who came out that day to make a purchase or mailed it to HPED. In total, we raised over $12,000! We have also arranged for a memorial bench to be installed at Bailey Park later this summer.
Sponsor the 2022 Haverford Home & Garden Show!
Our next Haverford Home & Garden Show is scheduled for Sunday, March 6th, and we are now recruiting show sponsors!

The show serves to connect local businesses and residents at a fun community event, as well as to raise funds for the work of HPED.  Past shows have included vendor booths, displays, speakers, make and take booths, a furniture flip contest, a marketplace of home and garden products, food vendors and a raffle of baskets.

Show sponsors receive extensive marketing opportunities and priority booth locations at the show. Click the button below to see sponsor levels:

Help us select our 2021 Awards of Excellence Winners
HPED will be giving out several annual awards at our Annual Meeting on October 20th, and we are asking the public to nominate businesses for the Standing Ovation Award.

The Standing Ovation Award is presented to a business of the highest standards, offering exceptional customer service, an attractive, welcoming environment, and engagement in the community life of Haverford Township.

Businesses who have won in the past, are ineligible to win for the next five years. Past winners include Kettle, Brick & Brew, and House Cup Coffee Roasters. You can nominate up to three businesses for the Standing Ovation award by emailing info@hped.org. A public run-off of the businesses who received the most nominations will determine the recipient.
Art-in-Windows Program
HPED's Window and Facades Committee is re-launching its Art-in-Windows program through which shop owners with underutilized window display spaces are partnered with local artists. The results are enhancement of the visual appeal of the store, beautification of the business district and opportunity for local artists to display their works. In the past HPED arranged displays in The Kelly Center and Camp Twin Creeks on Eagle Road with artworks of Deena Ball and Rudy Miller.

Interested shop owners and artists should contact Don Kelly at donaldkelly@aol.com.
