The Cougar Connection
The mission of Corpus Christi Catholic School is to nurture every child by providing the opportunities to grow in faith, achieve academic success, and serve others as disciples of Jesus
August 31, 2020
Dear Parents,

What an amazing first few weeks we have had! Thank you for giving your child the gift of Catholic education and for trusting us with your children.
Sincerely,
Bible Verse
Each month students learn a Bible verse and recite it together at school during our morning prayers. We also pray a particular prayer each month. During the month of September, our verse is Proverbs 3:5.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”

Our prayer focus is the Our Father.

We would love for you to work with your students at home.
Blessings in a Backpack Ministry
Our school is participating in the Blessings in a Backpack program. Through this ministry, we will help provide meals for students in need on the weekends. Students are asked to bring in donations on the first Friday of each month. Our first Food Pantry Friday will be this Friday, September 4. Students who donate items may wear their CCS spirit shirt with jeans or shorts (no shorts or athletic pants in Middle School). The following items are requested for the September collection:

K3-2nd grade - instant oatmeal, instant grits
3rd - 5th grade - granola bars, snack crackers
6th - 8th grade - fruit cups, applesauce cups

If you have not yet ordered a spirit shirt, you may do so in the office.
No School September 7 and 8
As a reminder, school will not be in session on September 7 due to the Labor Day holiday. We also will not have school on September 8 due to a scheduled professional development day for teachers. School will resume on Wednesday, September 9.
Office of Protection of Minors and Adults (OPMA) Child Protection Training
All adults who plan to volunteer in any capacity at Corpus Christi Catholic School or Parish must receive training in the Archdiocesan Child and Adolescent Training Program. We will offer this training on Monday, September 14 at 6:00 p.m. Attendance will be limited for distancing, so please email me if you plan to attend, kmartin@ccscatholic.com. If you are unable to attend the September 14th session, monthly sessions are held at St. Dominic Catholic School on the fourth Wednesday of each month. For parents who were trained in previous years, the renewal process is online.

All individuals wishing to renew must have an account with CMGConnect online. You may find more information here:

The retraining should be completed by October 31 of each year.
Yearbook NEWS
Please see the flyer below about an offer from Jostens. The yearbook is currently at it's lowest price of the year - $30. In addition, if you purchase your yearbook before Friday, September 4th, you can get 4 free icons to personalize the book. Here is the link to place an order: Jostens

Also, the decision was made to change to a "full-year" yearbook. This means the yearbook will include the entire school year. For example, this year's field day, Living Stations, First Communion, and graduation, plus any other end of the year events, will be included! But, this also means the books will be distributed during the summer or at the beginning of the new school year.

Finally, there are still a few of last year's (2019-2020) books available to buy. Stop by the school office or contact Stephanie Gillis at sgillis@CCSCatholic.com if you would like to purchase one.
Grandparents Day
As with so many events and activities this year, our celebration of Grandparents Day will be virtual. More details will be provided as the plans are confirmed.
Parent Student Waiver Due to COVID19
Please see the below waiver that the Archdiocese is asking all parents to complete. It is a fillable form. You may print out the form and return it, or save it and send to my email, kmartin@ccscatholic.com.  Only one form per family is required. If you have not returned the form, please do so ASAP.
