From Miriam McKenney
Calvary's Youth Minister &
Forward Movement's
Director of Mission & Development

Miriam recently wrote a reflection, with the help of her daughters, Nia, Kaia, & Jaiya, published by the Episcopal Church Foundation (ECF) on vital practices for the church called, "Ten Ideas to See You Through the Holidays."

Miriam writes,

"Even people who typically thrive in this season wonder how they'll make it work [in a pandemic]. Taking better care of ourselves and each other is the best gift we can give to help us stay healthy and motivated and able to cope with loneliness and loss. Here's how my family plans to manage, along with suggestions from my daughters."

Thank you to Miriam and the McKenney girls for sharing your ideas and gifts with the greater church. Take a moment to read the article by clicking the button below.

Vestry & Diocesan Convention Delegate Nominations

The Nominating Committee is receiving names for consideration for the slate of nominees for the Vestry (Class of 2024) and for Diocesan Convention Delegates for 2021.

What does a Vestry Member do?

The Vestry is the legal representative of the parish with regard to all matters pertaining to its corporate property.

The basic responsibilities of the vestry are to help define and articulate the mission of the congregation; to support the church's mission by word and deed, to select the rector (when there is a vacancy), to ensure effective organization and planning, and to manage resources and finances.
Eligibility: a member of the Vestry must be at least sixteen (16) years of age who at the time of voting is a pledging member (time, talent, and/or treasure) in good standing.

What does a Diocesan Convention Delegate do?

Delegates travel in the coming year to the convention Friday afternoon to Saturday afternoon, November 12-13, 2021 to conduct diocesan business, including election of officers and members of various leadership bodies; approval of a budget for the upcoming year; setting mission strategy; and establishing diocesan policy and procedure by considering and voting on resolutions and approving changes to the diocesan constitution and canons.

It is also an occasion forcommunication and teaching from the bishops; learning about and participating in shared mission and ministry; fellowship, community building and common prayer; and celebration of the Holy Eucharist together as a diocesan community.
Eligibility: Must be a member in good standing at the time of voting.

If you have someone you would like to nominate, or if you wish to self-nominate, for one of these opportunities, please e-mail or call Paul Davis at davisp1971@gmail.com or 513-607-1470.
