In the last few years, we've seen some amazing climate legislation passed in Massachusetts. That's been the direct result of folks just like you speaking out for a better future. Let's keep that momentum going in this new Legislative session!
Valentine Action
= Love Our Bills

Send a good, old fashioned snail-mail Valentine to both your State Senator and Representative, touting climate-positive new bills!

Send one of your own,
or come to BEAT's Valentine Station to create something unique! (call ahead for hours, 413-464-9402)

A new two-year session has started in the Massachusetts State Legislature. Mass Power Forward coalition (of which BEAT and No Fracked Gas in Mass are members) have identified climate-positive bills that we want all the legislators to support.

Use one of our print-out Valentines (included in the sample text and instructions) to color in, or send your own card or letter on your stationery.

You can also stop by the BEAT office at 20 Chapel St., in Pittsfield where we have some materials to create your own very creative card or letter! Great activity for artsy folks or whole families to make and send.

Though Valentine’s Day themed, the event will go on all this month!

• No Fracked Gas in Mass is also evaluating some exciting bills proposing substantial improvements to the Mass Save program. Ways you can help support them will be coming up soon! Stay tuned.

Urge your legislators to Co-Sponsor an
Act Establishing a Zero Carbon Fund

From Massachusetts Climate Action Network (MCAN)

MCAN has already sent 285 letters to legislators asking them to lead on equitable building decarbonization by co-sponsoring HD.776 & SD.500. As a result of our advocacy, we have already received 11 co-sponsors and a number of commitments to look further into supporting. This is fantastic progress.

We need to continue the momentum in order to ensure that we have the momentum to get an early investment this session in equitable building decarbonization that advances health, climate resilience, affordability, and justice.

Help us build momentum by using this action alert to reach out to your legislators and ask them to co-sponsor critical legislation that would establish and fund a $300 million Zero Carbon Renovation Fund.

Be sure to personalize your message so that they know why this is so important to you!

Program Associate

BEAT is seeking a new Program Associate to our team, including our No Fracked Gas in Mass program. The position is part-time, 20 hours a week, with flexible hours and the potential to expand to full-time. A strong interest in climate and energy issues is favorable.

This is an exciting time to join the team, as we push regulatory agencies to comply with new climate law and start an air quality monitoring project, along with our usual work to stop fossil fuel use and promote clean energy, storage and efficiency.

Rally for Clean Energy - Boston Fee Party

Thursday March 2
11:00 am

Prices of electricity are skyrocketing this winter because our region depends too much on fracked gas for our power. The current system is unsustainable, harmful, polluting, and unnecessary. We know that cleaner alternatives exist.

The people who run our regional electric system, called ISO-New England, are keeping us hooked on fossil fuels and costing residents money. And the worst part is, we ratepayers who fund this whole system have no seat at the table! They make their decisions behind closed doors, without any accountability.

We're fed up with this system, and we want real transparency and clean energy now. We're calling on our new Governor Maura Healey to demand reform from ISO-New England.
