Burnett Elementary students, staff share 'My Name, My Identity' lesson with everyone
The "My Name, My Identity" Campaign was introduced to the Board of Education, District Leadership and Milpitas community at the September 28 meeting.

Burnett Elementary School Principal Hanna Asrat's Video Board Report was priceless. Students and staff members shared with the community what makes their names (spelling, pronunciation and syllables) unique to them.

"By pronouncing students' names correctly, you can foster a sense of belonging and build positive relationships in the classroom, which are crucial for healthy social, psychological, and educational outcomes," Principal Asrat shared.

The campaign was developed by the Santa Clara County Office of Education. The objectives are to bring awareness to the importance of respecting one’s name and identity in schools and build a respectful and caring culture in school communities that values diversity.
