Parent's We Need YOU!
Palos Verdes Peninsula High School is seeking volunteers for the parent and community member positions on the 2021-21 School Site Council.

According to the California Education Code, the function of School Site Council is to:
  1. Measure effectiveness of improvement strategies at the school
  2. Seek input from school advisory committees
  3. Reaffirm or revise school goals
  4. Revise improvement strategies and expenditures
  5. Recommend the approved Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) to the governing board
  6. Monitor implementation of the SPSA

It is important to have parents involved in the decisions at Peninsula High. The position is a two-year term, and no prior experience is necessary.

If more volunteers than needed apply, then an election will be held via the Principal's Update on Sunday, September 12. The parent/community members receiving the greatest number of votes will be elected to the committee. Those receiving the next greatest number of votes will be declared the duly elected alternates. Please note that meetings are open to all members of the Peninsula High School community. However, only elected committee members are able to vote.

To nominate yourself or another, fill out THIS FORM by DEADLINE EXTENDED: Friday, September 17 at noon.

Questions? Please email Mrs. Katie Clovis at [email protected]

Now Hiring AVID Tutors
The Pen High AVID program is currently hiring tutors for this year. Applicants must be a high school graduate and working towards a college degree (okay if they are taking a semester / year off) or have completed college. Anyone interested can contact Mike Spalding at:   [email protected].

A great AVID tutor is someone with a solid understanding of a few high school level courses. Some of our AVID tutors are strong in math & science while others are strong in English or a foreign language.

Our tutor schedule this year is:
Mondays & Wednesdays -- 8:00 to 12:15
Tuesdays & Thursdays -- 9:00 to 1:50
Some tutors work only Mon & Wed while others work only Tues & Thurs. We even have tutors that wish to work all four days (Mon - Thurs). There are no tutorials on Fridays.

We are hoping to begin tutorials by the week of September 27 and they will run through early June. There will be a tutor training before the start of tutorials. Pay rate is $15.14/hr.

Being an AVID tutor is a very fun and engaging job. It is an especially great job and resume builder for anyone who wishes to pursue a career in education (teaching, counseling, school admin).

Anyone interested can contact Mike Spalding at: [email protected]

First: a custom painting by Antonio Del Prete, highly awarded artist, who was received by Pope Francis at the Vatican City - all proceeds of which will be donated to the Peninsula Education Foundation in Palos Verdes

Second: a Belle E’toile Signature Sterling Aqua enamel bangle bracelet sponsored by Medawar Fine Jewelers - all proceeds will be given as a scholarship to our Young Entrepreneur of 2021 during the conference.
