SUNDAY WORSHIP

COLLECT OF THE DAY

Almighty God, whom truly to know is everlasting life: Grant us so perfectly to know your Son Jesus Christ to be the way, the truth, and the life, that we may steadfastly follow his steps in the way that leads to eternal life; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Thank you for supporting the Ministries of St. Paul's!

"Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions, and give alms. Make purses for yourselves that do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." – Luke 12:32-34

Morsel for Meditation

Love in action is a harsh and dreadful thing compared with love in dreams. Love in dreams is greedy for immediate action, rapidly performed and in sight of all. People will give their lives if only the ordeal does not last long but is soon over, with all looking on and applauding as if on the stage. But active love is labor and fortitude.

Fyodor Dostoyevsky: The Brothers Karamazov

It is not love in the abstract that counts. We have loved the workers, the poor, the oppressed, but we have not loved “personally.” It is hard to love. It is the hardest thing in the world, naturally speaking. Have you ever read Tolstoy’s Resurrection? He tells of political prisoners in a long prison train, enduring chains and persecution for the love of their brothers, ignoring those same brothers on the long trek to Siberia. It is never the brothers right next to us, but the brothers in the abstract that are easy to love.

Camp Counselors Needed

We are still on the hunt for counselors at Summer Camp, individuals 19+years of age; there is no age limit. . I am asking each community of faith in the diocese to find ONE person from your community who is both willing and able to spend 1, 2, or 3 weeks at Camp All Saints (June 5-25) as a counselor to our youth at camp.

This is a new and exciting season in the life of camp. A time to staff Summer camp with a wide(er) range of individuals who love our children and love the Lord. Interested persons must be committed Christians, they must love children, they must be driven by the Holy Spirit to make Christ known to others, they must be compassionate. It will be tremendously helpful (for them) if they can navigate the rocky terrain of Camp All Saints. These are paid positions with the benefits of introducing and leading young hearts to Christ. If you know someone who would be a great counselor please contact Deacon Katie Gerber at kgerber@edod.org or 469-446-3536.
