A Message from our VP of Student Life and Mission | |
Dear Carondelet Community,
This week marks the tenth year that Carondelet has put on RISE programming. RISE (which stands for Respect, Inclusion, Solidarity, and Empowerment) is a time when students, faculty, and staff advocate against violence against women both globally and locally. Over the years during this week Carondelet has welcomed speakers on campus to address topics such as bystander interventions, advocacy for the health and safety of women, college campus resources, and sexual assault prevention. We also have danced the “Break the Chain” dance together as a community every year for a decade. This year we are collaborating with De La Salle to have these conversations together. As stated in a joint communication from DLS VP for Mission and Student Life, Spencer Shively, and myself recently, we are proud to welcome guest speakers to both of our campuses to speak to our students. For those interested, we are hosting a parent education night with Ashley Bendiksen, our junior and senior speaker, on 2/8 at 6:30 PM in the Jean Hofmann Center for Innovation. Information on how to RSVP for this event can be found here.
The Friday of RISE week will also be our first B-Day Lunch (Blunch) schedule as mentioned by Dr. Chaponot in last week’s e-News. This Blunch schedule is one that will replace Community Block schedules in the 2023-24 school year. The Blunch schedule is one where the lunch period is extended by 20 minutes to allow for special programming and club time. On Blunch days, we do not have a Community Block, and 6th-period is dismissed at 1:40 PM. This schedule allows us to dismiss our 6th period closer to DLS’s usual 6th-period dismissal on days when we would have held a Community Block. This B-Lunch schedule will occur five times this semester, all of which families can see on our website calendar. As always, campus is open for students to participate in PowerLab, meet with a teacher, or work independently after school. There is no need to pick up students immediately after dismissal.

For this Friday, this extended lunch will allow for our “Break the Chain” dance for RISE and ReFIT/Zumba in the Amp, which will cap off our RISE programming for the week.
This week is also full of spring sports tryouts. There are many sports to choose from: lacrosse, track and field, stunt cheer, softball, swimming, and diving. There are also two club athletic opportunities as well: spring rugby and beach volleyball. Details on tryout locations and times can be found on the Athletics page. Those athletes and their families that make a spring team should plan on attending the Spring Sports Night on Monday, February 13. Gear will be sold from 6-6:30 PM. At 6:30 PM parents will learn about the spring season and meet the coaches while athletes will participate in a Positive Coaching Alliance workshop.
Blessings,
Jennifer Reinwald
Vice Principal of Student Life and Mission

Parking Lot Reminders
To help with traffic flow at the exit, we ask that parents and carpools please use the main gate entrance when entering the lot in the mornings and do not park in any numbered parking spaces as these are all accounted for by students, faculty, and staff.
