Taste of Glen Ellyn and Carnival: August 11-15
The 2021 Taste of Glen Ellyn begins today, Wednesday, August 11 and runs through Sunday, August 15. This five-day event takes place in the heart of the downtown Glen Ellyn, north of the tracks in the Glenwood/Crescent Parking lot. The annual event features a variety of live entertainment including nationally known performers and a community stage showcasing local youth groups. Enjoy all the event has to offer with festive foods, cold beverages, a business expo and carnival rides.
Parking Lot and Street Closures for Event
In order to accommodate for the Taste of Glen Ellyn and Carnival event, it is necessary to close the Crescent and Glenwood lot as well as several parking areas designated as Employee Parking Only and Customer Parking Only. The following parking facility, Employee Parking Only zones and Customer Parking Only zones will temporarily be closed and unavailable:

  • Crescent & Glenwood lot from Sunday, August 8 at 6 p.m. through Monday, August 16 at 8 a.m.
  • Crescent Blvd. – Employee Parking Only and Customer Parking Only between Glenwood Avenue and Prospect Avenue from Tuesday, August 10 at 6 a.m. through Monday, August 16, at 8 a.m.
  • McChesney lot from Tuesday, August 10 at 6 a.m. through Monday, August 16 at 8 a.m.

The Village realizes that these parking locations are important to patrons, and that closing them may cause some inconvenience. Please note the following suggestions for parking:
Permit Parking Customers/Employee Parking Customers
You may park your car in any public parking lot marked for PERMIT parking during this period. In all cases, your current parking permit must be displayed. You should make every attempt not to park on the street or in areas marked for Customer Parking Only. If you should receive a parking ticket while following these instructions, please bring it to the Police Department. If we find that your permit was displayed and your car was not parked contrary to the stipulations above, you may be entitled to some relief.

Meter Users
Additional 3-hour meter parking is available in the Main and Crescent lot. Do not park in the areas marked ‘Permit Parking’ or ‘Employee Parking Only’. Parking is allowed in the Permit areas after 11 a.m. and in the ‘Employee Parking Only’ areas after 6 p.m. Free four hour parking is available on Forest north of Anthony and Anthony between Western and Park.

Please visit the Village's website for additional parking options and parking maps.
Increase in West Nile Virus Activity in DuPage County Prompts Health Department Advisory
Reports of increased mosquito pools testing positive for the presence of West Nile virus (WNV) has prompted the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) to encourage residents to protect themselves from mosquito bites and the risk of contracting WNV.

Residents are encouraged to check the Personal Protection Index (PPI), on the Health Department's website. The PPI provides residents with a current snapshot of WNV activity, with risk levels ranging from zero to three, with zero being no activity and three announcing multiple human cases of WNV in DuPage County. The PPI is updated every Wednesday by Health Department staff during the surveillance season and will change to match the risk level determined for that period.

The best way to prevent WNV is to avoid mosquito bites and follow the four Ds of defense:
  • Drain: Drain those items that collect standing water around your home, yard, or business. Scrub and refill pet water dishes and bird baths regularly.
  • Defend: Use an insect repellent containing DEET when outdoors and reapply according to directions.
  • Dress: Wear long pants, long sleeves, and closed-toe shoes when outside to cover the skin.
  • Dusk and Dawn: Wear repellent outdoors during these prime times for mosquito activity.

Find more prevention tips and ways to protect yourself and your family on the DuPage County Health Department’s “Fight the Bite” webpage: dupagehealth.org/ftb.
