In-school and After-school Programming Update
As a children’s museum, it is imperative that we protect the population with whom we interact, especially young children who are currently unvaccinated and most at risk of contracting COVID-19, as well as our community and employees. As such, in response to an executive order by New York City impacting NYC cultural organizations and vaccine mandates issued by NYC Department of Education, the Museum is instituting a policy to align with the City's mandates. As of October 8, 2021, all Museum staff are required to be vaccinated in order to comply with NYC and DOE vaccination mandates.
A New Friend Has Arrived
Congratulations to our good friend and Museum ambassador Sonia Manzano, known to generations of children and adults as “Maria” on Sesame Street, on the debut of Alma's Way a new series for children ages 4-6 that premiered this week on PBS Kids.

Inspired by Manzano’s own childhood, Alma's Way centers on a proud, confident Puerto Rican girl who lives in the Bronx with her family among a diverse group of close-knit friends and community members. Each episode showcases different aspects of Latino cultures through language, food, Latin music, and customs. Infused with Manzano’s humor and grounded in a social and emotional curriculum, the cartoon series gives children the tools to find their own answers, express what they think and feel, and recognize and respect the unique perspective of others.

Alma’s Way airs at 8:30 a.m. every morning but Saturday on THIRTEEN.
