The Santa Ana Public Library is excited to begin offering curbside pickup, along with phone based reference and check-out services at the Newhope Branch Library. These services will be offered 10 am – 6 pm, Monday through Friday and allow our patrons opportunities to start utilizing the Library’s new and improved collections.

Although the Santa Ana Public Libraries are currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Newhope Library has been busy receiving a variety of great upgrades and improvements that youth and residents of all ages will be sure to enjoy. These upgrades include:

  • An improved collection with age appropriate content for children and young adults.

  • New library furniture featuring designs and colors that are fun and attractive for children and youth.

  • A media lab featuring cutting edge technology for youth activities and STREAM (science, technology, reading, engineering, art, mathematics) based programming.

  • Expanded service hours each week (when the building is able to reopen to the public). Additional hours will offer enhanced access and services for children and their caregivers.

ONLINE TUTORING New!

Beginning August 3, 2020, the Library is offering online tutoring services for K-12th grade students. Tutoring will be provided through ZOOM and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is required to receive further instructions to participate in online tutoring. Join us!

STEM Kits To-Go

From August 24 through August 28, the Library will be offering Take It & Make It STEM kits for youth ages 5 to 12. No registration needed. Kits will be distributed to the first 50 participants on a first-come first-serve basis during curbside pickup hours, Monday through Friday, from 10 am to 5 pm at the Main Library. Each kit contains two activities – Popsicle Stick Catapult and Balloon Rocket – that will introduce simple STEM concepts, spark curiosity and encourage STEM interest in children.

On August 24, a video tutorial will be available on the City’s YouTube Channel.

Career Online High School Sept 2020

The Santa Ana Public Library is offering qualified community members the opportunity to earn an accredited high school diploma and credentialed career certificate through Career Online High School, a program brought to public libraries by Gale, a Cengage company.
“Earning a high school diploma is a life-changing achievement,” said Library Services Director, Brian Sternberg. “By offering Career Online High School, we’re empowering our residents to seek new opportunities and transform their lives.”
