CONSECUTIVE, MULTI-LANE CLOSURES SCHEDULED ON I-264 EAST
NEXT WEEK FOR BRIDGE WORK
VIRGINIA BEACH – As part of construction on Phase II of the I-64/I-264 Interchange Improvements Project, contractor crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will implement consecutive, weekend lane closures on I-264 east, allowing for crews to safety perform bridge work.

Beginning as early as 10 p.m. on Aug. 20, crews will close two lanes of eastbound interstate traffic between Newtown Road (exit 15) and Witchduck Road (exit 16). This double-lane closure will be in place consecutively until 5 a.m. on Aug. 23.

Three travel lanes on I-264 east in this location will remain open during daytime hours, with the potential for eastbound traffic to be reduced to two lanes as early as 11 p.m. each night.

This work is weather-dependent, and the schedule is subject to change.
