It is with humbling gratitude and deep appreciation to the entire congregation for the well-wishes and prayers on the occasion of my 15th Anniversary serving as your pastor! The signed and hand-painted card of the front of the church by Susan West means the world to me!!

I hope you have found this Lenten season to be a time of reflection and blessing in your life and journey of faith. I encourage you to continue that journey through the Holy Week services and Easter Sunday on April 9.

It is on the day after Easter, April 10, that I am blessed with the grace-filled opportunity of a restful and renewing 8-week Pastor's Sabbatical. Thank you so much for this very generous opportunity. While I am away, you'll be in VERY good hands with the strong leadership in this community of faith.

As I mentioned last month, the core of my time away will be spent in and around Montreat, NC (just east of Asheville) in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is the location of one of our national Presbyterian conference centers (see photo below). I have registered for a week-long conference, "Arts, Recreation, and Worship", preceded by staying on the Montreat property in a small cabin for 2 weeks. There is another 3-day conference in-between my stay in the cabin and the Montreat conference. It's 70 miles away in Boone, NC, led by John Pavlovitz - "Cultivating Hope in Difficult Times: Avoiding Compassion Fatigue". Both conferences will emphasize self-care and renewal - the very goal of a sabbatical. I will also be doing a lot of photography, hiking, reading, eating, and chilling out!

Thanks to the help and support of the Worship & Music ministry team we have put in place a remarkable worship experience opportunity.

"Seminary at College Hill" will have a different professor from Phillips Theological Seminary preaching each Sunday. All have also agreed to lead our Adult Church School class on something from their own field of professional study. See the links below to learn more about who will be preaching/teaching.

The final Sunday before my return, June 4, will be a fun Hymn Sing, led by our remarkable organist, Mike Gibson!

Please keep me in your prayers throughout my sabbatical. You will remain in mine.

A Celebration of 15 Years with Pastor Todd

15th Anniversary as our pastor at College Hill!

It’s difficult to believe, yet so much has happened during his tenure. In order to recognize this (and the 30th anniversary of his ordination in October), a celebration on November 5th, is being planned, in Fellowship Hall after worship-with a prime rib dinner and special events. 

So, please mark your calendar because you won’t want to miss the celebration!

The Children of the Church are such a blessing in countless ways!

We so appreciate their participation as acolytes, in the Time With the Children, and their Church School Class / Worship Connection.

We enjoyed a recent Pizza Party, and Rev. Todd leading them in dancing to "Dem Bones". Thanks to John Gammie for most all of these photos!

A very special thanks for the creativity, artistic ability, and time spent by Susan West painting the walls and doors in the children and nursery areas!

It was great to see Jack Robertson (David's father) in town recently. He blessed the Adult Church School class with recollections of his life and times at College Hill - going back to when he joined with his mother back in 1943! Jack was in the Boy Scout Troop sponsored by the church. He proclaimed that his life wouldn't have the meaning it does without his connection to the church and College Hill.

Jack and Rev. Todd have known each other going back to Todd's pastorate at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Dallas (a More Light Presbyterian congregation). After his departure in 2006, Jack filled in as pastor of that community of faith for another decade. Jack is 92 years young!

Thanks to the strong connection between Phillips Theological Seminary and College Hill (Rev. Freeman has taught "Presbyterian Polity" there three times since 2010) seven different professors will preach, as well as lead an adult church school class at 9:30 am.

A meaningful way to ring in the New Year and celebrate your Birthday, is to donate an amount equal to your new age to the Endowment Fund.

This donation is also a wonderful way to honor others such as children, grandchildren and friends and allows the church to have funds available for special projects.

A workday day has been scheduled to celebrate a time of Spring Cleaning, to clean, repair and generally do anything around the church that needs attention. There will be plenty of work for all skill and energy levels indoors and outdoors.

Volunteers are much needed and appreciated – many hands make light work! Light snacks will be provided to keep us going throughout the morning. Contact Bill Major or Mark Miller if you have any questions.

Children of ALL ages are invited to join the Palm Procession on Sunday, April 2!

Meet in Fellowship Hall at 10:45 for costumes and palms. We will dress as shepherds and apostles and the donkey will lead us and we proclaim Jesus’ arrival!

Please help the children of the church celebrate Easter by “adopting” a dozen plastic Easter eggs found in the narthex. Take them home, fill them with treats, stickers, little erasers, etc. and return them to the church by Wednesday,

April 5. We will have a lovely traditional Easter Egg Hunt on Easter morning.

Please bring friends, relatives and friend’s relatives to worship on Easter morning. Children will be invited to join in the traditional Easter Egg Hunt during Worship Connection. We will have special eggs available for children with food sensitivities! All God’s children are welcome!

College Hill has a wonderful library of children’s books upstairs. Some seasonal favorites are on display near the West door of the narthex. Please browse, read, check out, take home and enjoy!!

COMPASSION CAMP is coming to College Hill! This year's multi-generational Vacation Church School experience will take place 3 evenings July 11-13.  Together, we will explore what it means to have compassion for others, ourselves, and the world.
