Message from SCORE VP of Finance
SCORE Treasurers:
As we prepare for the 4th quarter, we are already thinking about Fiscal Year 2023! A few notes and reminders:
- Has your chapter used up its National Allocation yet? If not, does your chapter have a plan to spend it before fiscal year-end? Talk with your District Director, who may be reviewing unused National Allocations and deciding how best to use the funds before September 30.
-
Please update your chapter leadership in Engage and have your Chapter Chair update any changes approval designees at this form https://tinyurl.com/SCOREDesignee.
-
Please make sure all volunteers are using latest Form 14 with updated mileage rates. The new form can be found on the Support Center in either Adobe PDF fillable or Excel fillable here: https://tinyurl.com/SCOREForm14.
-
Please send bills into acconting@score.org instead of a staff’s email to ensure the bill is processed even if that person is on vacation.
- As a reminder, I must sign all contracts and a fully executed contract (countersigned by the vendor) is needed before accounting can pay on that contract.
Thank you for all you do for SCORE.
Rick Peluso, VP of Finance

Introducing Virtual Credit Cards
Chapter Treasurers and Chapter Chair/Co-Chairs: Are your volunteers paying the same vendor out of their own pocket each month just to seek reimbursement later? Have to make a deposit for a chapter event because it needs to be paid right away? It might qualify to be paid on a SCORE credit card.

National Small Business Week LiveChat
During the National Small Business Week Virtual Summit, LiveChat was offered to attendees where they could ask their most pressing business questions directly with a mentor via 1 to 1 chat.
Over the course of the event, SCORE LiveChat mentors received 886 chats – that’s 81% of the average monthly total we normally experience in just 4 days!
A very special thanks to all the amazing mentors that helped!

Best Practices For Women's Events
Have you held a women's event? Would you be willing to share your best practices and/or lessons learned with other mentors who want to organize a women's event?
If you're planning ahead for an event you might want to consider August or October for a Women's Event. Women's Equality Day is in August (8/26), and October is National Women in Small Business Month.
The National Women's Committee is compiling a resource guide of best practices that chapters can use when holding women's events. Please email your contribution to Marc Goldberg at Marc.Goldberg@scorevolunteer.org.
