Have you met the New Heights music team?
At New Heights we have a Music Instructor and Music Assistant on staff. Anna Spencer in the school two days a week, and has been the music instructor at New Heights for many years. Each week she provides music classes for students in the ECS, Elementary and Junior High classrooms.
 
Anna is joined on Wednesdays by our Music Assistant Colton Hopkins. Colton is a New Heights alumni and valued member of our music team at New Heights.

School Photo Day
School Photo Day was on October 19th. Ken will be back on December 1st for Re-Takes and for any students who were absent.
Welcome Practicum Students!
Our school and ECS program has welcomed practicum students back this Fall. 
 
Ashlee and Hannah are from Bow Valley College, and Ren is from Columbia College. Ashlee and Ren are with Mount Kidd and Hannah is with Turtle Mountain over the next months. These practicums provide students with the opportunity to begin integrating theory and practice.   
 
We also welcome Barbara, completing a practicum for her Counselling and Psychology Masters program. Barbara’s practicum at New Heights is in partnership with Rocky Mountain Psychological Services. Barbara will be joining us in the classroom and in sessions until April. Barbara is a familiar face to many as she was previously on staff with our Home & Community Support program.
 
We are excited to give practicum students the opportunity to learn from our wonderful community here at New Heights! Welcome!
 
Healthy Hunger
New Heights has partnered up with Healthy Hunger and local restaurants to offer families an easy way to participate and place hot lunch orders for our children while supporting our school. A portion of the sales is donated back to the school. 
Parents order and pay for meals online through the Healthy Hunger website.

New this year: Sponsor a Teacher and/or a Student. Let’s pay it forward. Help brighten the day of others. If you choose to sponsor a student or teacher we will reward them with a free lunch. (Sponsored students will be chosen by staff at New Heights).

Cash/payment for the lunch will not be accepted at the school as this is a third party.

  • Instructions for registering with Healthy Hunger are here.

Students with Allergies
Please note: Parents of children with dairy, gluten or any other food allergy; we will try to have options available. If you are unsure please contact each vendor directly for a list of ingredients.
TECH SPOT
Did You Know?
All the students at New Heights School can access their Google Apps such as Gmail, Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Sheets, Google Classroom etc, from home. Simply go to accounts.google.com and enter your child's school email and password. (Please check with your child's teacher if you are unsure of your child's email or password.)

Also,
All the students at New Heights have access to the literacy support tool called Read & Write. This can also be accessed both at school and from home. Read & Write is a software tool bar that offers literacy support features that can help students to create and engage with content at any grade level. Some of these features include reading text out loud, understanding unfamiliar words, researching projects, and proofing written assignments.

An email will be sent to all families with details on how to access this tool from home.
