Public Meeting Notice: Fort Myers CRA to host Community Zoom Meeting - Public Art at MLK-VSSB Intersection
March 29 at 6 pm
We are so excited to tell you that the Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and the City of Fort Myers Public Art Committee have joined forces to bring a landmark sculpture to the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and Veronica S. Shoemaker Blvd. As you already know, this intersection is a main arterial road into the City of Fort Myers that is traveled by thousands of people each day. We envision bringing a piece that is both interesting and representative of our community.

We are actively seeking input from all members of the public as to the aesthetic, design, look and feel of the sculpture. This information will be incorporated into the Request for Proposals (RFP) and will guide artists submitting in response to what our community envisions.

Join us on March 29, 2021 at 6 pm on Zoom. This is your opportunity to be a part of the process.
2021 Edison Awards
April 21-23

The Edison Awards™ is an annual competition designed to honor excellence in new product and service development, marketing, human-centered design and innovation. Winners represent “game changing” products, services and excellence and leadership in innovation around four criteria: Concept, Value, Delivery and Impact.
Started in 1987, The Awards are named after inventor Thomas A. Edison and symbolize the persistence and excellence in innovation personified by him. This event, thanks in small part to the City of Fort Myers, the CRA and other partners, will be held in the downtown Fort Myers River District at the beautiful new Luminary Hotel and Caloosa Sound Convention Center. Also, we are excited to share that a number of our own local Fort Myers businesses are finalists.

West End at City Walk

West End at City Walk is slowly adopting its completed shape as the stucco is being applied. The Amenities building has started to resemble its rendering, with the trim around the window openings and the ground level archways exuding a pleasing finished look. Pre-leasing is available on the leasing website at www.westendfortmyers.com.
Silver Hills at Fort Myers

The project is coming along nicely. The South side has drywall working inside and soon will start with cabinets and other finishes. The North side is about 30-45 days behind and has interior framing going on along with mechanical, electrical and plumbing, and then will start drywall after inspections. The exterior stucco is moving along but is often stalled as we wait for Florida Power & Light (FPL). The garage began construction in mid-March. The developer expects to open the clubhouse and first units at the beginning of the Summer!
