Through the Season of Fall!

Still trying to figure out how fall is effecting you? Fall is the season of metal. Metal can sometimes be hard to see in nature at first glance. Metal can seem cold, hard, and non-living. But it is very alive in nature. We see it in the minerals in our earth. The salt in the sea, and the ores deep in our earth's core. Metal creates strength, structure, and conductivity in our lives! White is the color of metal. The season associated with metal is Autumn. The season of harvesting, organizing, and preparing for the winter/end of the year. It is easy to see this in nature, the squirrels are gathering and fattening up for the winter. We may be harvesting our gardens, and storing our harvest for the winter as well. Others may be sad, and worried, this is because it is easy to see time slipping away/changing. This can be very hard for people to deal with. Maybe their children are growing up too fast, or they are aging too quickly to adjust. When we are suffering during fall. It is difficult to harvest, and enjoy your accomplishments. For this is the season that we have been working hard to get to all year. During the winter we plan out our goals. During the spring we plant our goals. during the summer we grow our goals. Which brings us to fall when we harvest/accomplish our goals. If this doesn't occur, we need to look into what went wrong. Which season did if occur in? Was it an emotion that caused it, or a physical trauma? As we evaluate, we will find out the area of weakness. Lungs and Large intestine are the organs associated with the season of fall and the metal element. In Traditional Medicine the lung is the Prime Minister. The transformer of air into Da Qi- breath energy. Breath is seen in every cell of the body. The breath creates its own rhythm. The whip-poor-will can tell you that. We use the breath to build energy/Qi in the body, during acupuncture,Tai Chi, and Kung Fu. This breath rhythm begins at our first breath and continues until our last! It can be influenced on a physical and emotional level. We can become breathless with excitement, or with great loss. It is easy to see lung disharmony as well. We see Asthma, bronchitis, allergic, and auto-immune tendencies. The large intestine is the other metal element. The large intestine has an extremely overlooked and important job. As waste eliminator/drainer of the dredges- it must remove toxins. While leaving the water to moisten stool so that the stool/toxins can be evacuated easily, consistently, and effectively. Creating a healthy digestion from start to finish, which allows the brain to function smoothly, and digestion to happen like clockwork!
