Reconnecting with communications staff and volunteers – Some time ago, the office sought to compile a list of staff and volunteers responsible for coordinating communications in their parishes as well as Area Catholic Communities. This included websites, social media and bulletins/newsletters. The goal was to more easily share pertinent information directly with these individuals, foster networking, and share best practices and learning opportunities geared specifically to communications personnel.

We did not receive many names for the list at the time. We’d like to resurrect this effort to assist those working in communications ministries. If you haven't already, please send names and contact information to Barb Simon-Johnson at [email protected]

Virtual Class

Are you a nurse (or do you know a nurse) who has been feeling a little burnt out and would like to incorporate more of their spirituality to their nursing practice? Encourage them to consider Faith Community Nursing.

A Faith Community Nurse (FCN) can do so much for a church family, creating an atmosphere of wellness and vibrancy while focusing on the intentional care of the spirit and whole-person health from a faith perspective. Some examples of how FCNs may achieve this is through:

  • Home and hospital visits and calls,
  • Educational offerings to church members and/or the wider community,
  • Connection to community resources,
  • Care group facilitation,
  • Baby blankets and prayer shawl ministry,
  • Mental health care,
  • Blood pressure screenings,
  • Parenting classes,
  • Support of clergy and ministry leaders,
  • Evidence-based wellness workshops,
  • Volunteer coordination,
  • Much much more.

Scholarships are available. Early bird and group discounts are also available!

May 9 – Faith Community Nurse Prayer Service and Blessing of the Hands

This event will be held at St. Cloud Hospital Chapel from 9:00-10:00 a.m.

The work of the Tribunal has continued throughout these months – but with the inability to meet in person with clients we have made several adjustments to meet the needs of the people. In this process the staff has chosen to make some adjustments to the annulment process.

The adjustments are as follows:

  • The documents required are the same for each annulment process and are:
  1. baptismal certificates for both principals;
  2. marriage certificate
  3. divorce decree

  • For the formal annulment process, the petitioner can submit the completed form (Formal Petition (PDF) or Formal Petition (DOC)) and a narrative –or– participate in a telephone interview –or– appear in person at the Tribunal Office for a scheduled appointment.

  • In the formal process, hearing the witnesses will not have to be in person at the Tribunal. The witnesses will be contacted by phone and the petitioner will assure the availability of the witnesses for a phone interview at a time designated by the Tribunal.

If you are uncertain about the annulment process or any have other questions, you can contact the Tribunal Office at (320) 251-6557 or email [email protected][email protected][email protected] or [email protected].

May 27 – Confirmation for Baptized Catholics – Bishop Patrick will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation for Adults (18+) at the Vigil of Pentecost at 5:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of Saint Mary. This is for Catholic candidates who are seeking to complete their Christian initiation. Each parish that is preparing adult candidates for this sacrament is strongly encouraged to send its candidates, along with their sponsors and families, to the cathedral for this Diocesan Confirmation Liturgy. Registration: https://www.stcdio.org/adult-confirmation/.

Sacrament of Reconciliation – Usage of the new Order of Penance began February 22 (Ash Wednesday) and must be in place by April 16 (Divine Mercy Sunday). Pastors are asked to coordinate with their staff as to when the parish will begin using the new Order of Penance and allow for the necessary catechesis before using the new Order of Penance.

For those teaching children and youth the new Order of Penance, we have two documents on our website from the Federation for Diocesan Liturgical Commissions (FDLC) for your use: one is a step-by-step guide for the penitent and the other is a list of approved Prayers of Penitent (previously known as the Act of Contrition). These resources can be found on the Office of Worship’s Liturgical Resources page,  https://stcdio.org/liturgical-resources/.

The Office of Worship will be in contact with priests, directors of faith formation programs (sacramental preparation and RCIA), and schools regarding this new Order of Penance. Books for the new Order of Penance can be purchased from the following publishers:
