Montesecondo
Chianti Classico 2017
94/100 - Vinous, Antonio Galloni (8/2020) "The 2017 Chianti Classico is supple, racy and inviting, with striking textural depth and phenomenal balance. Succulent dark cherry fruit gives the 2017 much of its immediacy and appeal. Silky, plush and exceptionally harmonious, the 2017 captures all of the natural radiance of the year. Sweet floral and spice notes add lift to this sophisticated, beautifully polished Chianti Classico from Montesecondo. Quite simply, this is a phenomenal wine for the vintage. Drinking window: 2020 - 2037." (Italy)

Siduri
Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2016
92/100 - Vinous, Josh Raynolds (10/2018) "Brilliant ruby-red. Ripe cherry and black raspberry aromas are complicated by building floral pastille and cola nuances. Sappy and expansive on the palate offering concentrated red and dark berry flavors that turn sweeter on the back half. Shows excellent clarity and definition on a long penetrating finish framed by silky even tannins. Drinking Window: 2021 - 2027." (California)

Keenan
Spring Mountain District Napa Valley Chardonnay 2018
92/100 - Our Score (10/2020)
93/100 - Wine & Spirits (6/2020) "Michael Keenan farms a large block of chardonnay adjacent to his winery on Spring Mountain, the vines planted in 1995, close enough to underground springs that they provide an abundant crop without irrigation. His 2018 is intriguing and layered, a complex mountain-grown chardonnay with an earthy tannic briskness to sustain it. The flavors range from lime to yellow apple and green plum, firm enough to absorb the oak in which it aged, and to last, with the cool pallor of a morning-sun wine." (California)

Cambria
"Tepusquet Vineyards" Santa Maria Valley Viognier 2018
Online prices for this tasty small production, single-vineyard Viognier range from $22 to $36. Thanks to a little Vin Chicago magic, our price is a whole lot less!
90/100 - Wine Advocate (9/12/2019) "Barrel fermented in neutral oak and aged for five months, the 2018 Viognier Tepusquet Vineyard has a classic nose of honeysuckle, white peach and apricot, elderflower touches, musk melon, white pepper and a strong vein of crushed rock minerality. Medium-bodied, it offers restrained, mineral-driven fruits with very juicy acidity and a long, perfumed finish. An understated, well-balanced Viognier. 1,000 cases produced. Drink Date 2019 - 2022." (California)

Acústic Celler
"Acustic" Vinyes Velles Nobles Montsant 2017
Smoky, gritty and meaty with very bright floral aromas and delicious complexity, this is a super impressive Montsant red and we love it!
91/100 - Our Score (10/2020)
96/100 - Wine & Spirits (10/2020) "Inspired by his family's winemaking traditions in the Baix Penedes, Albert Jane works organically, with as little intervention as possible in his 103 acres of vineyards. His vines are scattered across a range of terroirs; this wine is focused on grapes grown on clay and sandy stone soils. A blend of 70 percent carinena (carinyena, locally) and 30 percent garnacha, it's juicy yet playful, with tart berry flavors blended with scents of lavender and lilac, chives and thyme. The texture is silky, and the spicy finish led me to write, 'I want more!'" (Spain)

Domaine la Garrigue
"Cuvée Romaine" Côtes du Rhône 2017
90/100 - Our Score (9/2020)
92/100 - Jeb Dunnuck (4/3/2019) "The 2017 Cotes du Rhone Cuvee Romaine is another custom cuvee from Importer Eric Solomon that's all from declassified Vacqueyras vines. A blend of 50% Grenache, 45% Syrah, and the rest Cinsault, it reveals a deep ruby/plum color as well as a great nose of black raspberries, black cherries, olive tapenade, ground pepper, and earth. It's a fleshy, full-bodied, beautifully pure, rounded effort that's again a smoking value." (France)

Dead Canyon Ranch
Horse Heaven Hills Red Wine Blend 2017
Like the Dead Canyon Cabernet that we recently featured, this red blend from the Mercer family was originally intended to be sold for close to $20 at a major national chain. With a mouthfeel and flavor profile that far exceed the expectations of our much lower price, it is another HUGE winner!
89/100 - Our Score (9/2020) The Dead Canyon Ranch Red is a blend of 50% Syrah, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 8% Malbec, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Mourvedre, all from the Mercer family's estate vineyards in the Horse Heaven Hills. Offering sophisticated flavors of black cherry, black raspberry, vanilla, toast, smoke, bacon, and olive, this medium bodied Washington State red offers a warming brightness that make it perfect for just about any occasion. An EXTREMELY smart buy. (Washington)

Bodegas Atalaya
"Laya" Almansa Red 2019
90/100 - Wine Advocate (9/10/2020) "The fruit-driven and easy-to-drink 2019 Laya was produced with Garnacha Tintorera, or Alicante Bouschet, grapes blended with 30% Monastrell from an unusually wet year with torrential rains during the harvest. It fermented in stainless steel vats with neutral yeasts, with malolactic in barrel, where the wine matured for four months. It's very dark, almost opaque, expressive and open. This comes from younger vines yet is structured and seamless, quite complete. It feels like a very good vintage for Garnacha Tintorera in the zone. The palate is round, somehow creamy, and the tannins are ripe and juicy. 360,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2020. Drink Date 2020 - 2023." (Spain)

90+ Cellars
"Lot 94" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
90+/100 - Our Score (10/2020) A deep, delicious, legit Napa Valley Cabernet for nineteen bucks? Yep! This 2017 Napa Cab is secretly sourced by the 90+ team from a we-can't-tell-you-because-we-don't-know Napa Valley winery. It is packed with flavors of blackberry, plum and black cherry that are both fresh and ripe. The wine is accented by coffee, smoke, vanilla, medium-plus tannins and a lively finish. Good when first popped. Even better after an hour in a decanter! (California)

Domaine La Clef du Recit
Menetou-Salon 2018
90/100 - Our Score (9/2020) In addition to bottling inspired, tradition-breaking Sancerre, vigneron Anthony Girard also crafts this delicious Sauvignon Blanc from the neighboring appellation of Menetou-Salon. Made in a classic style, this 2018 gives appealing, and very Sancerre-like flavors of plump citrus and apple along with tropical guava, all atop a chalky frame. Delicious and smartly priced, it is a great alternative to more expensive quality Sancerre bottlings. (France)

Leitz
"Rudesheimer Magdalenenkreuz" Riesling Spätlese 2017
93/100 - James Suckling (9/11/2018
91/100 - Wine Spectator (7/31/2019) "Graceful and light, yet expressive and ripe, this shows an alluring mix of mango, papaya and tangerine flavors, with notes of mineral echoing in the background. Mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2030. 250 cases imported." (Germany)

Bulliat
Cremant de Bourgogne Brut Nature NV
90/100 - Our Score (9/2020) This crisp, dry and totally engaging 100% Chardonnay sparkler hails from the Burgundy region of France. Made using the traditional Champagne method, this "Extra Brut" is richly rounded with notes of orchard and citrus fruits, and has a wonderfully balanced crispness on its bone-dry finish. Perfect with spicy Thai food, sushi or as a welcome wine with various cheeses! (France)
