Congratulations to the 2021 African American Youth Achievement Honorees!
Congratulations are in order to the 38 African American students, representing both District 65 and District 202, on being honored at the African American Youth Achievement Awards (AAYAA)! Honorees were honored on Thursday, March 18 through a virtual ceremony hosted through Evanston Township High School’s YouTube channel. For those who missed the event, feel free to watch it now via ETHS’ channel. Now in its 24th year, AAYAA pays tribute to the African American youth in our community who are excelling academically in their classrooms or socially in their extracurricular activities. Two African American students from each District 65 school and each class at Evanston Township High School were selected to be honored for this year’s ceremony.

Friendly reminder! The window for D65 staff and parents/caregivers to complete the 5Essentials Survey is almost coming to a close! The survey, which takes about 10 minutes to complete, must be completed by Friday, April 2. Additionally, schools need 20% of their parents and 50% of their educators to respond in order to receive a report! Data from the 5Essentials Survey provides our school leaders with valuable insights that are used to develop effective school improvement plans. The survey asks questions about student experiences and school environments and also includes questions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

High Five! Recipient for March - Mr. Daniel Delbene!
Congratulations to Mr. Daniel Delbene (pictured below), Paraprofessional at Lincolnwood Elementary, in being selected as one of the recipients to receive this month’s High Five! Celebrating Excellence in District 65 award! Mr. Delbene has served our community for a year and was nominated by his fellow colleague, Elizabeth Hahn, along with other members of the Lincolnwood staff who supported her nomination. Elizabeth shared in part that, “Danny always remains calm and collected in escalated situations and helps other team members to stay calm. He is in a positive mood no matter what the day throws at him! The students who have been lucky enough to work with Danny have seen greater success with problem solving and using coping strategies when they start to feel upset. All the kids like to work with Mr. Delbene! Danny is an asset to our Lincolnwood Community!" Thank you for all that you do for our students, Mr. Delbene! As a reminder, both February and March recipients received a $100 gift card from sponsorship provided by Byline Bank, a framed recognition certificate, and were recognized at the monthly school board meeting on March 22.
Breakfast and lunch will be available to every child during Remote Learning. Meals may be pre-ordered (by Fridays) and picked up curbside for the week on Mondays at several locations. For more information and details, click HERE.
