International Pronouns Day!
Did you know that today, October 20, 2021, is International Pronouns Day? What are your plans to mark #PronounsDay?

The International Pronouns Day website (https://pronounsday.org/ ) reminds us that this awareness day “seeks to make respecting, sharing, and educating about personal pronouns commonplace. Referring to people by the pronouns they determine for themselves is basic to human dignity. Together, we can transform society to celebrate people’s multiple, intersecting identities.”

There are a LOT of things you can do. Here are just a few suggestions:
  • Share social media posts about International Pronouns Day
  • Use the #PronounsDay hashtag when sharing on social media
  • Update your Zoom name to include your pronouns
  • Print off pronoun stickers to share with your co-workers, teachers, students
  • Talk to your kids, parents, friends, and pets about the importance of pronouns
  • Wear a button with your pronouns on it
  • Practice using “non-traditional” pronouns (singular they, per, ey, xe, ze) with your consenting friends (or head over to https://www.practicewithpronouns.com/ )
  • Add pronouns to your name tag
  • Ask your HR department, campus administrators, or others to update their policies to include a wider range of pronoun options
  • Add pronouns to your social media profiles
  • Introduce yourself with your pronouns, ask others to share theirs
  • Add your pronouns to your email signature file
  • Bake and share pronouns cupcakes with your peers (encourage people to decorate their own, or pre-decorate yourself)

Thank you for being part of a community of people who care. Your donation directly supports trans and nonbinary survivors.
