HEART awarded $1 Million State Grant for Affordable Housing Preservation
Thank you, HCD!

To help preserve Naturally Occurring Affordable Housing (“NOAH”) properties in San Mateo County, HEART successfully applied for and received a $1 million grant from the State of California under the Local Housing Trust Fund (LHTF) Program. Out of 24 applicants across the State, HEART was the only agency seeking funding for housing preservation. With HEART’s matching funds, we now have $2 million in equity capital for the NOAH Preservation Program. Paring HEART’s capital equity with conventional financing, we hope to finance the acquisition of a small apartment building to pilot HEART’s NOAH Program in San Mateo County.

We are proud and grateful for the broad financial support we receive from a diverse group of organizations and individuals. HEART's ability to pair grants with conventional financing and local contributions will help us have a greater impact preserving affordable housing.
Thank You to Our Former Members
HEART's Board of Director's is comprised of 11 public officials, selected by the City Selection Committee, and 10 at-large community members. Our Board positions serve three-year terms. We would like to thank and recognize former elected officials Anne Oliva (City of Millbrae) and Rick Bonilla (City of San Mateo), as well as our at-large member Pam Frisella who recently stepped down.
Thank you to former San Mateo Mayor Rick Bonilla for his many years of service as Vice Chair for HEART's Board of Directors, for providing his distinguished expertise as a dedicated Board Member for seven years, and for serving on the Nominating, Program, Finance, & Strategic Working Group Committees.
Thank you to former Millbrae Mayor Anne Oliva for her commitment to creating affordable housing for low-income residents, for providing her distinguished expertise as a dedicated Board Member for six years, and for serving on the Finance, Fund Development & Strategic Working Group Committees of HEART.
We would also like to recognize and thank Pam Frisella, a vital long-time, at-large member and former Foster City Mayor who has served diligently on the Board of Directors for nine years, as Chair of the Fund Development Committee, and on the Nominating and Legislative Committees.
